Eckels-Whetzel
I am seeking to learn more about the branch of my
family related to my grandmother, Bess Joy Whetzel. Bess was the daughter, one
of 6 children, of Joseph Conrad Whetzel and Gertrude Eckels. Joseph's father,
Joseph C and his wife Susanna (Eichling) settled in Noble County in about 1856,
coming from Pennsylvania (the Whetzel name is sometimes spelled Wetzel or
Whetsel). Gertrude's parents, Valentine Karn Eckels and his wife Sarah Ann
(Bronson) came to Noble Co. from Ohio about 1875. Valentine's brother, William
also came to Noble Co., as did Sarah's sisters Mary O. Baker and Emma Sherman
McInturf. I would welcome hearing from any of the descendants of my
Whetzel-Eckels-Bronson families. I believe many of you still reside in Noble and
the neighboring counties.

Potter-Creigh
families
I have noticed the bullitin board gets good results, so I am going to inquire after my Noble County brick walls. Samuel A Creigh husband of Lydia, father of Sarah Jane Creigh who married Edmond Potter. Lydia died in 1855 she is buried in South Milford, where did Samuel go after Lydia's death? Samuel and Lydia moved to Wayne Township from Richland County, Ohio about 1844 does anyone have anymore information on this family? Henry Potter Edmond's father wife Azuba? also moved from Richland County, Ohio. Edmond's biography states he was born in Onondaga, NY. I can't find anything more about this family either. I know Henry died in the early 1860's. I don't know where he and Azuba are buried. I think I found Henry living in Haw Patch on the 1860 census name misspelled as Henry Patten. Could he be buried somewhere over there in Lagrange County? Anyone have any more information on this Potter family?
