Thacker Bobbie Deloras, 65, of
Kendallville, died Monday in McCray Hospital. She was born in Garrett, Ky.
on May 16, 1928 to John C. and Eunice (Porter) Ward. On May 2, 1950 in
Garrett, Ky. she married Buster Thacker. She moved to Kendallville 22
years ago and retired in 1990 from Tokheim Corp. in Albion. She was a
member of the Assembly of God in Kendallville. Surviving are her husband;
4 daughters, Garnett Langley of Lexington, Ky., Katherine Fike and Deborah
Thornton of Kendallville, and Carolyn Stephens of Fort Wayne; 4 sons, Chuck
Branham and Russell B. Thacker of Kendallville, Don Thacker of Auburn, and John
Ellis Thacker of Pueblo, Colo.; 3 sisters, Billie Jean Morgan of Columbiana,
Ohio, Betty Curtis of Hamilton, Ohio, and Phyllis Browning of Silver Springs,
Fla.; 3 brothers, John Ward of Kendallville, Jack Ward of Palm Springs, Fla.,
and Steve R. Ward of Baltimore; 21 grandchildren and 7

Thacker Janice M, 58, died July 9, 2002 at home. She worked at
Bollhoff-Rivnut, Kendallville, and was a member of St. John Lutheran
Church. She was born Sept. 3, 1943 to Warren N. and Viola M. (Hammel)
Smith in Kendallville. She married Russell Basil Thacker Dec. 26, 1985 in
South Milford. He died April 25, 1998. Also preceding her in death
were a brother, Max Smith; and a sister, Evelyn Gibson. Surviving are a
daughter, Vicky Smith of Kendallville; 4 grandchildren, Stacy Hays, Kendra Smith
and Jennifer and Steven Hostler; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Gene
Lash of Kendallville; and 2 brothers, Kenneth Smith of Saucier, Miss., and James

Thacker Russel B, 40, of Kendallville, died unexpectedly Saturday in his
home. He was born June 1, 1957 in Martin, Ky. to Russell and Bobbie (Ward)
Thacker. On December 26, 1985 in South Milford he married Janice
Smith. He moved to this area in 1966 and had been a spot welder for Dexter
Axle in Albion and was a member of the National Guard. Surviving are his
wife; a stepdaughter; 4 sisters, Garnet Langley, Katherine Fike, Deborah
Thornton and Carolyn Sandel; 3 brothers, Chuck Branham and Donald and John

Thacker Russell B "Buster", 67, of Kendallville, died Tuesday as
the result of an auto accident at Ind. 3 and Ohio St. in Kendallville. He
was born December 7, 1928 in Garrett, Ky. to Blaine and Katherine Thacker.
On May 2, 1950 in Garrett, Ky., he married Bobbie D. Ward. She died August
16, 1993. He retired from Safeguard in Kendallville and was working
part-time at T.D. Shea. He was a member of Assembly of God and
Kendallville Eagles Lodge. Surviving are 4 daughters and sons-in-law,
Garnett and John Langley, Katherine and Ronald Fike, Deborah and Randall
Thornton and Carolyn and James Sandel; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford
"Chuck" and Sandy Branham, Donald and Karen, and Russell and Janice,
and John and Denise Thacker; 2 sisters, Deloris Rice of Lexington, and Bernice
Thacker of Wellington, Ohio; a brother, Blaine Jr. of Louisville, Ky.; 24
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral Friday in

Thacker Veronica M, 43, died Dec. 4, 2007 at her Kendallville
home. She had been employed for 8 years at Colwell General in
Kendallville. She graduated from East Noble High School in 1982. She
was a member of the House of Prayer Full Gospel Church in Kendallville.
She was born in Kendallville on April 25, 1964 to Sidney and Margaret (Hall)
Bryant. She married Jeff Thacker on Sept. 20, 1984 in Kendallville.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Ashley; a brother, Thomas L. Bryant, all
of Kendallville. Services Saturday at Hite Funeral Home. Burial,

Thallmer Johanna, 93, died Jan. 12 at Mishawaka. She was a former Avilla resident, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman
Vanderbosch. She was active in St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Mishawaka and
is survived by four children, Jerry, South Bend, Don, Warsaw, Lois of Franklin,
and Mary of Utah; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Services Saturday. ~ 1-19-1984
Thatcher Margaret J, 68, Fort Wayne, died Jan. 13 in Clearwater, Fla. She
was a native of Monroe and had lived most of her life in Fort Wayne. Surviving
are her husband, Douglas; one daughter, Marilyn McIlveen, New Haven; three sons,
James, Avilla, William and Dennis, Fort Wayne; and one sister, Louise Dekarske
of Detroit. Private services and burial were Monday in Covington Memorial

Thibaut Jeanne, 46, 103 Grand St., Ligonier, died
yesterday en route to Goshen Hospital. She was born June 15, 1925 in Sycamore,
Ill. to Charles and Nina (Linstrum) Bodeen. She resided in Ligonier the past 23
years and had been employed as a secretary for Royal Imprints, Inc., Ligonier.
She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Survivors include 3 daughters, Susan
Jo, Nancy Kaye and Julia at home; her mother, Mrs. Charles Bodeen, Rockford,

Thibaut Richard S, 59, Ligonier, died Tuesday in Goshen
Hospital of a massive stroke. Born Nov. 9, 1922 in Sycamore, he was the son of
Joseph and Adelina (Sauter) Thibaut. For the past 11 years, he resided at Lake
Wawasee. The owner and operator of J&A Tool & Die Shop in Ligonier, he
was a member of Ligonier Elks. Surviving are 3 sisters, Mrs. Ken (Susan) Ingram,
Kokomo, Mrs. O. (Nancy) Moore, Warsaw, and Mrs. Brian (Julie) McKay, Houston,
Texas; and a fiancee, Sharon Mildebrandt, Lake Wawasee. Services Friday

Thiel Betty J, 60, of Fort Wayne and native of Wolf Lake, died
June 5, 2012, at her home. She was born in Wolf Lake on September 30,
1951, a daughter of James C. “J.C.” and Mary (Moeller) Dazey. She graduated
from Central Noble High School in 1969, and from the Parkview School of Nursing
in 1971. She was formerly employed at Parkview Hospital for 25 years, and for
the past 10 years worked as a nurse for Parkview Home Health & Hospice as
well as EMSI. On October 13, 1979, she was married in Fort Wayne to
Richard L. “Rick” Thiel. He died April 2, 2008. Surviving are a
daughter, Erin E. (Rob) Niman of Fort Wayne; a stepson; 2 sisters, Sister Cheri
Dazey of Hammond and Sandi (Steve) Lemish of Albion; 4 brothers, James C. (Rhae)
Dazey II of Kendallville, Terry (Margaux) Dazey of Albion, Chuck (Sandy) Dazey
of Wolf Lake, and Ron (Angie) Dazey of Albion; and her grandchildren, Robbie P.,

Thiem Anna E, 82, died Monday in McCray Hospital. Born Aug.
6, 1898 in Gutenwerder, Germany, she was the daughter of Wilhelm and Susanna (Zawadzke)
Peitz. On Sept. 7, 1921 she married Emil Thiem in Germany. He died Feb. 17,
1959. A member of St. John Lutheran Church, she had lived in Kendallville since
1923, coming from Germany. Survivors include one daughter, Ilene Kuhl, Adrian,
Mich.; 2 sons, Alfred, Fargo, N.D., and Arthur, Kendallville; 2 sisters, Helene
Fischer and Freda Harke of Germany; a brother, William, Germany; 11
grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. One daughter, one son and 2 brothers
preceded her in death. Funeral Thursday at Berhalter-Hutchins Funeral

Thiem Christopher David, 22, died Jan. 19, 2004 in a traffic accident
near Kendallville. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He
was born Aug. 26, 1981 in Kendallville to David Arthur and Cathy Lynn (Young)
Thiem. Surviving are his parents; a sister, Laura; grandparents, Arthur
and Evelyn Thiem and Ilene Young of Kendallville. He was preceded in death
by a grandfather, John Young, on Feb. 10, 1982. Services Thursday at St.

Thieme Emma, 69, wife of Andrew Thieme and a resident of Rome City many
years, died last Wednesday in McCray Hospital. She was born Sept. 1, 1877 and in
Rome City had joined her husband in operation of a boat livery business. He is

Thomas Albert L, 74, of Albion, died Monday at the Kendallville
Hospital after falling from a cherry tree and breaking his hip 10 days ago.
Funeral was at Miser Funeral Home Wednesday. Burial, Sweet Cemetery. Surviving
are the widow, Elizabeth, a son, William; a sister, Mrs. Lillie Palmer of

Thomas Altha M, 93, died Monday in Anthony Wayne Living Center.
A Packerton native, she had lived most of her life in Fort Wayne. Surviving are
3 daughters, Bertha Webster, Hazel Thomas and Eva Fay Crone, all of Fort Wayne;
a son, Paul L. of Albion; and 5 grandchildren. Services Thursday in Klaehn’s

Thomas Amy Randall, 93, a native of Avilla, had lived in Fort Wayne 71
years and was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, the Diversus Club and
DAR. Her husband, Albert E. preceded her in death in 1937. Surviving are a
sister, Mrs. Charles Beckman of Kendallville; two daughters; two sons; 12

Thomas Ben, 87, R. 3, died Monday at his residence. He was born
Sept. 10, 1894 in Reno County, Kan., the son of Peter and Katie (Miller) Thomas.
On April 1, 1915 in Dodge City, Kan., he married Lovina Mullet. He had resided
in the Topeka-Ligonier area the past 24 years. A retired farmer, he was a member
of the Old Order Amish. Surviving are his wife; 4 daughters, Mrs. Willis
(Miriam) Miller and Mrs. Levi (Amanda) Stutzman of Hydro, Okla., Mrs. Andrew
(Katie) Bontreger of Ligonier, and Mrs. Amos J. (Lovina) Stutzman of Paris,
Texas; 3 sons, Martin of Hydro, Ira of Goshen, and Ben E. Jr. of White Pigeon,
Mich.; 36 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Services Friday in

Thomas Bertha A, 79, of Wolcottville, died Thursday at
Lutheran Homes, Inc. in Fort Wayne. She was born Jan. 29, 1908 in Ohio, the
daughter of Olin and Carrie (Keck) Crosby. She married Kenneth Thomas, who
preceded her in death. She lived in Noble County most of her life. Surviving are
a stepson, Jerry Thomas, San Diego, Cal.; one nephew, Larry Reinking,
Wolcottville. Services Sunday at Hutchins Funeral Home in Wolcottville.

Thomas Bobby R, 18, Ligonier, was killed Tuesday when
his moped collided with a semi-tractor trailer after he disregarded a stop sign
at U. S. 6 and 33. He was born March 13, 1968 in Kendallville, the son of
William and Della Mae (Everley) Thomas. He married Jenny Lynn Harvey. He had
lived in Ligonier 9 years and was employed in Syracuse. Surviving are his mother
and stepfather, Paul and Della Jacobs in Ligonier; his wife; a daughter; a
sister, Teresa Thomas of Knott County, Ky.; 2 brothers, Ronnie of Knapp Lake;
and Alvin of Ligonier; a half-sister, Retta Jacobs, and a half-brother, Roger
Jacobs, both of Ligonier. Services Friday in Salem Community Baptist

Thomas Carl E, 79, R. 2, Waterloo was a retired principal of the
Kendallville Departmental Building School and had also taught elementary
education for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Irma (Urey) Thomas; one
daughter, Mrs. Richard (Joanne) Mollica, Fort Wayne; two sons, Paul E, R. 2,
Waterloo, and Dale, Ashley; a half-sister, Mrs. Homer (Berdena) Clark, Fort
Wayne; one brother, Almond, Miami, Fla.; seven grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. One brother, Ray, died in November 1975. Services Nov.

Thomas Charles N, 63, 500 N. Riley St., died today at
McCray Hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was born April 22, 1912 in
Noble County to William E. and Ida Mary (Wible) Thomas. He married Hazel May
Baker in Hillsdale, Mich. April 27, 1929. He was a lifetime resident of the area
and a Kendallville resident since 1937. He was employed at International
Harvester when it was located in Kendallville, worked for Kendallville Implement
from 1940 to 1947 when he opened the Kendall Frozen Locker. He operated this
business for 22 years until he closed it in May of 1969. Surviving are his
mother at 117 E. High St.; a daughter, Mrs. John (Marilyn) Hillis, 520 N.
Summit; and one granddaughter, Michelle. Services Saturday at

Thomas Claude, 81, a former resident of the Avilla area, was a cable
splicer for Bell Telephone Co. Surviving are the widow, the former Nellie
Wright; two daughters, Berneda at home, and Mrs. Marie Westphal, Cree Lake.

Thomas David J, 55, died unexpectedly March 14, 2006 at Parkview Noble
Hospital. He was born in Kendallville on September 7, 1950 to Raymond and
Mary L. (Smith) Thomas. He graduated from East Noble High School in 1969
and married Dorothy S. McCann on August 5, 1978 in Avilla at Immanuel Lutheran
Church. Surviving are his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Brad
Goodman of Avilla; 2 granddaughters, Sierra and Brittany Goodman. He was
employed with Flint & Walling in Kendallville for 33 years, retiring in June

Thomas Deborah C, 28, formerly of Kendallville, died on Friday, June 22, 2012, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan,
due to cancer. She was an English teacher at Genius English Academy, Kaohsiung,
Taiwan She was born on March 21, 1984, in Wichita, Kansas, to David and
Jean Peachy. She married Robert Thomas, of Staten Island, N.Y. She
was a graduate of Indiana University, in Bloomington. In 2008 Debbie moved
to Jeju Island, South Korea, where she taught English as a Second Language. From
South Korea she moved to Kaohsiung, Taiwan. She is survived by her
husband; her parents; 2 sisters, Lisa Olivetti, and husband Jared, of West
Lafayette, and Tamara Peachy of Upland; one brother, Zachary Peachy, of
Pittsburgh, Pa.; and her grandfather, Willis Peachy of Kendallville.

Thomas Edna, 82, died Feb. 3, 1961at her home. She was born
Feb. 17, 1878 to Mr. and Mrs. John (Sarah) Earle in Jefferson Twp. Her husband,
Morton, preceded her in death in 1930. She was a member of the Albion
Presbyterian Church and a 50-year member of the OES. Surviving are a son,

Thomas Effie E, 91, of R. 1, Kimmell, died Saturday (d.
8-4-1984) at Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City. Born Dec. 24, 1892 in
Green Twp, she was the daughter of George and Vidilla (Weeks) Wright. On Oct. 2,
1915 in Albion she married Paul Thomas who died Feb. 26, 1974. A seamstress, she
was a member of Ormas Baptist Church and Washington Twp Homemakers’
Club. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Mary Lou) Young of Wolf Lake; 4
grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. A brother and 3 sisters preceded her
in death. Services Tuesday at Brazzell Funeral Home, Albion. Burial,

Thomas Elizabeth, 81, for many years a resident of this county, died in
South Bend Thursday of last week. She was the widow of Zachariah Thomas who died
in 1885. Together with her husband she came to this county from Virginia in 1865
and had resided in Jefferson Twp and in Albion until 4 years ago when she
removed to South Bend. The remains were taken to Albion and funeral services
were conducted at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. F. Croft in that place
Sunday. She leaves 4 daughters and one son, Mrs. E. R. Shirk, Mrs. Croft and
Bruce Thomas of Albion, Mrs. Foster and Dr. Martha Thomas of South Bend. ^

Thomas Ella B, nearly 96, and for 55 years a resident of Kendallville,
died at the home of her daughter in Garrett Sunday evening. For 5 years over
half a century, she resided at the corner of Diamond and Oak streets in this
city. Several years ago she went to Garrett to reside with her
daughter. For several years she had been almost totally blind.
Surviving are 2 sons, George Thomas, Little Rock, Ark., and Albert Thomas, Penn.,
and 2 daughters, Mrs. Brown, Garrett, and Mrs. Laura Shook, Winchester, Ohio; 3

Thomas Elwood H, former Warsaw and Albion area resident, died Sunday in Fountainview Nursing Home at Greenfield, Ind. He was born in St. Mary’s,
Ohio on Aug. 20, 1892. He was a veteran of WW I and a charter member of the
American Legion Post 157 in Churubusco. His wife, Helen (Pickering), died in
1960. Survivors include a son, Elwood of Shelbyville; 2 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. Funeral Wednesday at Krider-Workman Chapel.

Monday in the health center of the Peabody Memorial Home at North Manchester.
She was born Dec. 28, 1885 in Albion to Charles M. and Flora (Woodruff) Clapp.
On Nov. 10, 1909 she married Harry Thomas. He died Oct. 13, 1949. She is
survived by several cousins. Graveside services Wednesday at Rose Hill

Thomas George, 75, resident of Kendallville more than half a century,
died Dec. 7 at his home from complications. He is survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. J.
C. Varner, Mrs. John Frey and Mrs. C. E. Gilbert, all of Kendallville. Funeral

Thomas George M, 68, resort operator at Bear Lake for many years, died Thursday of a heart attack at his home in Wolf Lake. He was
formerly a resident of Wabash. Surviving are the widow, Ruth; a daughter, Mrs.

Thomas Harry D, (b.7-30-1882 - d.10-13-1949) Noble County
Republican chairman the last 8 years and an Albion resident the last 40 years,
died last Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne
after suffering a heart attack. A former merchant, he was associated with Stoops
& Thomas department store in Albion and several years ago sold his interests
to enter the insurance field. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Albion
Lodge 97, F&AM, and Fort Wayne Consistory. Funeral was Saturday in Albion
Presbyterian Church. Burial, Rose Hill Cemetery. Surviving are the widow,

Thomas Hazel M, 84, of Kendallville, died Jan. 22 in McCray
Hospital. She was born Feb. 24, 1913 in rural Albion to Orrison J. and Minnie
Mae (Edwards) Baker and they are deceased, as is her stepmother, Delta (Fahl)
Baker. On April 27, 1929 she married Charles N. Thomas in Sturgis, Mich. He died
Dec. 24, 1975. She and her husband owned Kendallville Frozen Locker. She was a
member of Faith United Methodist Church, Kendallville. She is survived by a
daughter, Mrs. John (Marilyn Charlene) Hillis of Anderson; 3 grandchildren,
Michele Hillis of Nashville, Tenn., and Christina and Tiffany Hillis of
Anderson; a nephew, Keith Thomas of Avilla, and his children, David and Steven
Thomas of Avilla and Kevin Thomas of LaOtto. Two daughters and one brother

Thomas Howard, 53, of Elkhart, died Thursday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born April 22, 1927 in
Greenwood, he was the son of Jack and Gertrude Thomas. His wife, Helen, whom he
married in Oct. 1968 in Marysville, Ohio, died June 19, 1979. He had been a
resident of Rome City before moving to Elkhart 5 years ago. He retired from the
M. C. Gilbert Co. in Fort Wayne. He was a veteran of WW II and a member of Rome
City American Legion and IBEW No. 1393. Surviving are his mother in Elkhart; 3
brothers, James of Wolcottville, Herman of Elkhart, and Arthur of Knox. A
brother, Claude, preceded him in death. Services Sunday in

Thomas Howard F, 64, of 566 Sylvan Lake, Rome City, died Tuesday at his residence. The son of Herschel and Opal
(Hinshaw) Thomas, he was born in Amboy July 15, 1917. A Navy veteran of WW II, he had moved from Marion to the
Kendallville area in 1962. He was a retired maintenance man for Kraft, Inc., and
a member of Marion Masonic Lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Mary Ann)
LaRue of Fort Wayne; and 2 grandchildren. A daughter and a sister preceded him

Thomas Ida Mae, 105, died at Sacred Heart Home Saturday. She
was born in Noble County September 3, 1879, the daughter of David S. and Mary
Wible. She married William E. Thomas in Noble County June 8, 1899. He died Feb.
4, 1968. A lifetime resident, she was a member of Faith United Methodist Church
in Kendallville. Surviving are four grandchildren, Keith Thomas, Avilla, Norma
Thompson, Anandale, Va., Richard Thomas of Houston, Texas, and Marilyn
Hillis of New Castle; 12 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Charles and Harold; and two sisters and five brothers preceded her in

Thomas John J was born in Penn. Jan. 6, 1831 and died at Kendallville
Aug. 22, aged 77 years 6 months and 16 days. He moved to Richland County, O.,
with his parents when 3 years of age and there grew to manhood. At the age of 23
he married Euphemia Bloodhart who survives. In 1868 with his wife and 5 children
he removed to DeKalb County, Ind., living there 12 years, after which they moved
to Kendallville, in which place they have lived for 30 years. They had 6 daughters and 3 sons, 2 sons and one daughter preceding him in death.
Remaining are the widow, one brother at Bedford, Iowa, 6 children and 8
grandchildren. Funeral at the residence, 221 Lisle St., Aug. 24. Burial, No.

Thomas Joshaway Lincoln, 86, died November 8 at the home of
a daughter, Mrs. Ollie Reimer. Other survivors are two daughters, one at
Mansfield, Ohio and another at Masland, Ohio and two sons of Masland, Ohio as
well as two grandchildren. Services Friday at the St. Mary’s

Thomas Joyce N, 75, Channelview, Tex., formerly of Kendallville, died
November 24, 2002. She was born in Churubusco on March 17, 1927 to Arthur A. and Edith B. (Stroh) Bonar. She married
Richard Thomas in 1948. Surviving are her son, Gregg Thomas; 2 daughters
and one son-in-law, Karen Jo Thomas and Noreta and her husband; and several
grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and David Carter of Albion;
4 brothers and sisters-in-law, J. C. and Judy Bonar and Stanley and Sue Bonar of
Albion, Dale and Judy Bonar of Loveland, Colo., and Michael and Stacy Bonar of
Seattle; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Keith and Norma Thomas of
Avilla. Preceding her in death were her husband, and 2 sisters, infant
Louise Bonar and Barbara Leatherman who died in April 2000. She was a 1945
graduate of Kendallville High School and worked as a department store

Thomas Kenneth E, 89, died Saturday in the emergency room of McCray
Hospital. He was born December 18, 1906 in Noble County to Morton and Edna
(Earle) Thomas. On August 26, 1942 in Albion he married Frances J.
Grover. A lifetime Albion resident, he was the owner of Noble County
Abstract, retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church,
Albion Rotary Club, No. 97 F&AM, 33rd degree Mason, Scottish Rite, and a
50-year member of Mizpah Shrine. Surviving are his wife; and a son, David

was a veteran of the Civil War and saw active service in several important

Thomas Marlene Joy, 29, formerly of Garrett, died Friday in
Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, after being injured in an automobile accident
April 6 on Ind. 8 and DeKalb CR 63. She was born June 23, 1955 in Garrett to
Harold R. and Laurine Skelly. On Aug. 9, 1975 she married Paul E. Thomas Jr. in
Ashley. She was the former office manager for Parnell Park Nursing Home, Fort
Wayne and was a member of Pleasant Chapel Church of the Brethren. Surviving are
her husband; her parents; a daughter, Adrianne Marie at home; 3 sisters, Janet
Ramsey of Newport-News, Va., Martha Tubbs of Hudson, and Linda Skelly of
Waterloo; 4 brothers, James of Fremont, Amos of Waterloo, Marvin of Ashley and

Thomas Mary Eliza was born in Pierpont, Ashtabula County, Ohio, May 18,
1846 and died at South Bend, Ind. May 10, 1920, aged 73 years, 11
months and 21 days. She was the daughter of David and Henrietta Stanton Matthews.
When 15 years of age she, with her family, moved to Noble County. On Sept.
10, 1864 she married George H. Lane. They had 8
children. The husband died Dec. 10, 1888. She was preceded in death by 2
sisters, Mrs. R. L. Stone and Mrs. W. E. Worden; 4 children, Maude, Raymond,
Mrs. Thomas Smith, and Mrs. J. E. Kilgore. Those surviving are a sister, Mrs.
Ellen Schlotterback of Elkhart, Ind.; a brother, W. H. of Albion; 4 children,
Vincent D. Lane, Bluefield, W. Va., Edgar A., Sidney Australia, Mrs. W. D.
Allen, Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Roy Skinner of South Bend, Ind.; 8 grandchildren.
In April 1893 she married Charles W. Thomas, who died May 3, 1915. She was a

Thomas Mary Louise, 74, of Avilla, a native of Kendallville, died July 11
at home. She was born in 1924. She was retired from McCray Hospital’s dietary
department. Surviving are a son, David of Avilla; a brother, Robert Smith of

Thomas Minnie, widow of the late Edward S. Thomas and a former resident
of this city, died Wednesday at her home in Chicago. She was the only
surviving member of the family of the late Dr. S. T. Williams, pioneer physician
and surgeon of this city. Two sisters, Mrs. A. R. Otis, Miss Effie; and one
brother, Dr. Warren S. Williams, preceded her in death. She was born at
Brunersburg, O., near Defiance and came to this city with her parents about
1865. About 1885 she was united in marriage with Edward S. Thomas. He died in
Chicago in 1912. Surviving are 2 sons and one daughter, E. W. and William

Thomas Morton P, 52, died after being
stricken by a violent attack of angina pectoris. For several years he was a
Noble County teacher, which occupation he abandoned to accept a position as
deputy surveyor under Fred B. Moore. When Mr. Moore retired, he and Mr. Thomas
purchased the Noble County Abstract business. Mr. Thomas served 4 years as
treasurer of Noble County. The widow, Edna (Earle) and son, Kenneth are left. Funeral was held at the home Thursday. Burial, Albion Cemetery.

Thomas Morton S suffered a heart attack Jan. 28, 1950 and died shortly
thereafter at Cameron Hospital in Bryan, Ohio. He was owner of the Albion Mfg
and was a heavy stockholder and officer of the Holabird Furniture Co. at Bryan,
being vice president and a director. He was a native of Chicago and was a 32nd degree Mason and a life member of LOOM. Surviving are the wife, Emily; 2 sons,

son of Zachariah and Retta (DeWitt) Thomas. He was married Oct. 2, 1915
in Albion to Effie Wright. A retired farmer and operator of a garage and machine
shop in Albion until 1946, he was a member of Ormas Baptist Church. Surviving
are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Mary Lou) Young, Wolf Lake; a brother,
Cecil, Fort Wayne; 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two sisters and 3

was born Oct. 21, 1915 in Grabill, the daughter of Jay and Amanda (Newhouser)

Thomas Raymond D, 71, 237 E. Vine St., died Sunday in McCray
Hospital. He was born June 5, 1904, the son of Henry and Susan (Ott) Thomas. He
married Mary Smith Aug. 6, 1949. He was a lifetime resident of the area and was
a retired employee of Flint & Walling where he worked for 30 years. After
retirement he did spouting and tin working around the area. Surviving are his
wife; a son, Dave, at home. A half-sister and half-brother preceded him in

Thomas William Sheridan died Nov. 25 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.
M. Boyer, 214 E. Diamond St. He was born Feb. 13, 1831 in Perry County, Ohio, on
a farm north of Lancaster. His father was one of 5 brothers who with their
families migrated from Virginia and settled closely together in the same
neighborhood and the family name has become a familiar one in that region. Early
in the 50’s William S. went to Columbia City where he clerked and taught
school and for some time served the county as deputy in the auditor’s office.
In 1859, together with his brother, Z.C. Thomas, and J.R. Baker, Peter Snyder
and others, he moved to and located in Kendallville and the brothers entered
into the merchandising business. He sold out in 1864 and eventually started to
travel for an eastern tea house and continued in that line till fatal illness
overtook him. He moved to Chicago in 1881 but arranged his territory and trips
in such a manner to enable him to make frequent visits with his daughter in
Kendallville. He married Mary S. Snyder in Columbia City Oct. 1, 1856. They had
5 children, of whom Mrs. A.M. Boyer of this city and Mr. E. S. Thomas,
assistant department manager of the First National Bank of Chicago survive. His
death leaves one brother, Amos W. of Chicago the sole survivor of the immediate
family. He was a member of the M. E. Church and Blue Lodge of the Masonic order.

Thomas Winifred B, daughter of the late Robert M. and Eliza Ann Earll,
was born July 18, 1857 and died April 24, 1920, aged 62
years, 10 months and 6 days. She was born on the first farm west of the
Stringtown Church, at which place she spent the greater portion of her early
life. When a young lady she went to Chicago where she entered training for the
profession of nursing. After 4 years of preparations she engaged in nursing for
several years until called upon to care for her aged parents. On Sept. 30, 1911
she married Zachariah Thomas and they made their home in the vicinity of Wolf
Lake. She was a charter member of Stringtown Church. + 4-?-1920

Thomas Zachariah T, son of David and Elizabeth Thomas, was born in Morrow
County, Ohio Aug. 19, 1851, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Irvin
Kimmell, March 12, 1928, aged 76 years, 6 months and 2 days. He was one of a
family of six children, all of whom have died except 2
brothers, James of Fredericktown, Ohio, and R. O. of Baxter Springs, Kansas. His
father and mother died when he was only 13 years old and he then made his home
with his older sister, Mary Ogden. He married Retta DeWitt
on March 3, 1872 and moved to Indiana 2 years later. They had 6
sons and 2 daughters, 2 of whom preceded him in death, Fred when a child and
Clarence in 1909. He leaves 4 sons and 2 daughters, Mrs. H. I. Kimmell
of Kimmell, Frank of Kendallville, Blanche Wood and Cecil C. of South Bend,
Carlton L. of Wolf Lake, and Paul A. of Ligonier; 6 grandchildren; also Thelma
Dickey Anderson of Elkhart who made her home with Mr. Thomas for several years.
He was married to Winifred B. Earll on Sept. 30, 1911, who died April 26,
1920. A third marriage on March 29, 1921 to Mrs. Felissa Adillis Guthrie,
who died Dec. 1926. He was a member of the old school Baptist Church where

Thomas Zera C, died on the 12th of Dec. 1877, was born in Perry County, Ohio, April 29, 1835, and was nearly 43
years of age. He was married in 1856 and came to Kendallville in 1859 where he
engaged in the mercantile business for several years, but on account of ill
health sold out and returned to Ohio. He returned to Kendallville and was
appointed internal revenue assessor for this county which position he held until
the districts were consolidated. About 3 years ago he received an appointment in
the railway postal service. He joined the Methodist Church when 15 or 16 years
of age. He joined the Masons as soon as his age would allow and was one of the
first members of the chapter in this city. He left a wife and 5 children. He
held policies in responsible insurance companies to the amount of $6,000 and had

Thompson Abraham, 16, of Wolf Lake was almost instantly killed. The
father of the boy, William Thompson, states that he is unable to say just how
the accident occurred. The father and son were hauling onions on a motor truck
and driving slowly. They saw an ear of corn lying at the side of the road and
the boy said he would get it. The father warned him to be careful and, as the
road was rough, paid no more attention to him until he heard him cry out as the
machine struck him. He apparently fell and his head was struck by the rim of a

Thompson Ada Marie, 76, of Avilla, died Aug. 16, 1996 at McCray Hospital.
She was born June 23, 1920 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Oliver and Electa
(Hyatt) Poinsett. She married Wayne Thompson on Nov. 6, 1938. Surviving are her
husband; 3 daughters, Gail Rodenbeck of Kendallville, Arlene Freeman of
Huntertown, and Judith Hass of Albion; 2 sons, Charles J. of Avilla, and Wayne
Jr. of Albion; one brother, Frank; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was an Avilla resident for 30 years. Two brothers, 2 sisters and one

Thompson Alan G, 52, a Ligonier native, died Saturday in
Goshen Hospital after suffering a heart attack at his mother’s home. He was
born Jan. 12, 1924 in Goshen and lived in Brown County near Nashville for about
the last 20 years. He was employed by Cummins, Inc. of Columbus. He was a member
of the United Methodist Church and Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was a veteran
of WW II and the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Leland
(Gertrude) Thompson, Ligonier; one sister, Mrs. Caroline Wainright, E. Lansing,

Thompson Albert F, 72, a retired concrete contractor, died March 31, 1953
at his home in Ann Arbor, Mich. after suffering a heart attack. He had been in
the concrete contracting business for 48 years, specializing in sidewalk
construction. He retired a year ago. He was a member of Fraternity Lodge 262,
F&AM, Ann Arbor. Surviving are the wife; 2 sons, Charles S. of Ann Arbor,

Thompson Alden Blake, 81, died February 11 in Naples, Fla. A
longtime Kendallville dentist, he had been a winter resident of Naples since
1987. Surviving are his wife, Doris; a daughter, Sally A. Calderon of
Carmel, Ind.; a son, Dr. John V. Thompson of Fort Wayne; 5 grandchildren, Andrea,
William and Ellyssa Calderon of Carmel and Lacey and Max Thompson of

Thompson Alfred Davis was the son of James and Sophia Thompson, born in
Richland County, Ohio Jan. 1, 1848, and died in Albion Jan. 23, 1931,
aged 83 years and 22 days. He was one of 4 sons, 2 of whom, Elza and Calvin,
with the parents, preceded him in death. One brother, Lenious, of Albion,
survives. In 1850 the family moved to Noble County and settled on the farm north
of Albion, which has since been known as the Thompson farm, he and his brother,

operator of the Bendix Laundry & Dry Cleaning Co. He was married June
9, 1946 to Frances Shanks at Leaksville, NC. Surviving are his wife; one
daughter, Mrs. Lowell Gamble, Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. George
Easterday, South Bend and Mrs. J.W. Kritz, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one brother,

native, he retired in 1972 after 42 years with General Electric. Surviving are

Thompson Berniece, 87, died March 25, 2007 at Avalon Village Nursing home in
Ligonier. She was a 1937 graduate of Pontiac High School in Pontiac,
Mich., and 1939 graduate of Tri-State University. She was born July 15,
1919 in Jefferson Twp, Noble County, to Emory W. and Florence (Eldridge) Strater. She married Ernest M. Thompson on Dec. 14, 1940 at her home near
Sweet Lake. He died March 12, 2002. She was a member of Asbury
United Methodist Church in Albion more than 57 years and a member of American
Legion Post 246 Auxiliary in Albion. Surviving are 2 sons and
daughters-in-law, Lynne and Vivian Thompson of Ossian and Benjamin and Christine
Thompson of Avilla; a daughter, Jannie S. Rhodes of Mentone; a brother and

Thompson Charles died this afternoon at his home, 809 8th St., after an illness of several weeks.
He was in his 48th year and has been a resident of Three Rivers for about
3 years, being employed in the moulding department at the Sheffield Car Co.
He came to this town from Ligonier, Indiana, where he resided for a number of
years. About a year ago, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Walter Moore
who survives him together with seven children by Mr. Thompson's first wife.
Two daughters, Mrs. James Kritz and Margaret Thompson, reside in this city.

Thompson Chauncey G, 93, of Wolf Lake, died Friday at the Ligonier
Health Facility. He was born November 18, 1901 in Noble County to William
and Rose (Altimus) Thompson. A retired farmer, he lived in the Wolf Lake
area all of his life. He married Lodema Louise Hile on September 3,
1925. She died January 14, 1992. He is survived by 2 daughters,
Helen Mustin of Fort Wayne and Roxy Gibson of Crooked Lake; a son, Jack of Bear
Lake; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and 2
sisters preceded him in death. Funeral Monday in Sheets Funeral Home,

Thompson Donald L, 86, of Rome City, died Dec. 18, 2011, at
Miller’s Merry Manor, LaGrange. He was born in Wawaka on Dec. 10, 1925,
to Elmer E. Thompson and Ruth (Gill) Thompson. He graduated from
Wawaka High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He
married Eva J. Showalter Thompson on Feb. 14, 1997. He worked for 37 years
at Penn Controls in Goshen as a returns specialist. He was a member of VFW
Post 2749 of Kendallville, the American Legion Post 381 of Rome City, the
40&8 Post 642 and Eagles Lodge 985 of Kendallville. Survivors include
his wife; his son, Barry and Betty Thompson of Wawaka; daughter, Deborah and
Martin Haugen of Sacramento, Calif.; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3
great-great-grandchildren; his first wife and mother of his children, Barbara
Lehman of Wawaka; 4 stepdaughters; and a brother, Richard Thompson of Rome
City. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Thompson; former
wife, Laura (Routson) Thompson; sister, Ruth Ann Gilbert; and brother, Charles

Thompson Doris Annette, 82, of Kendallville, died Aug. 8, 2003 at
Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She attended Ball State University.
She was a member of Kendallville chapter of Tri-Kappa and of the Trinity Church
United Methodist. She was the first woman to earn her private pilot's
license in Noble County in 1967. She was born July 16, 1921 in Helmer, the
daughter of Harold and Nellie (Gunsaullus) Whysong. She married Dr. Alden
Blake Thompson on Aug. 9, 1942 in Helmer. He died Feb. 11, 2000.
Surviving re a daughter, Sally Calderon of Fort Wayne; a son and
daughter-in-law, John and Diane Thompson of Fort Wayne; 7 grandchildren, Andrea,
William and Ellyssa Calderon, Lacey and Maxwell Thompson and Ryan and Shane
Replogle; a brother, Verle Whysong of Spokane, Wash.; and a sister, Clarice
Rogers of Kendallville. Also preceding her in death were 2 sons, Dr.
William Thompson on March 29, 1984, and James Thompson on Dec. 19, 1959.

Thompson Edwin G, founder of the Ligonier Leader and editor of the
newspaper since its first issue in the spring of 1880, died at his home on
Martin St. Jan. 5, 1936. Stricken with apoplexy, he was 81 years and 10
days of age. Born in Clearfield County, Pa. on Dec. 26, 1854, the son of Stacy
W. and Elizabeth Thompson, he spent his early childhood on a farm in Pa. On Nov.
27, 1874 he married Esther M. Barnes in Fenton, Mich., and they had one
son, Wilbur. She died Aug. 1, 1879, and on Dec. 8, 1881 he married Ella Kennedy
at Sturgis, Mich. They had 5 children, Martha, Grace, James,
Edwin G. Jr. (Ted), Leland and Herbert who died in infancy. Ted died at the age
of 7 and Martha in 1927 from pneumonia. His wife died in the fall of 1929. He
was a member of the Methodist Church of Sturgis, Mich. Funeral was Wednesday
afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal Church. Burial, Oak Park Cemetery.

Thompson Emily Ann, 77, of Kendallville, died Friday in McCray
Hospital. Born in Wayne Twp, Noble County, on October 18, 1912, she was
the daughter of Joseph and Arzilla (Bodenhafer) Evers. On May 89, 1937 in
Kendallville she married Wayne L. Thompson. A lifetime area resident, she
retired in 1974 after teaching at Wayne Center, Corunna, Avilla and Kendallville
Schools. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and
Kendallville B&PW Club. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs.
James (Judith A.) Acton of Brownsburg; 3 sons, Gale "Stormy" of
Kendallville, Daryl W. of Brownsburg and Kent J. of Zionsville; and 7
grandchildren. Two brothers, Howard and Lester Evers, preceded her in

Thompson Ernest M, 85, died March 12, 2002 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort
Wayne. He was a field engineer 1946-1982 with INDOT and served in the U.S.
Navy during WW II and for 20 years in the Navy Reserves. He was a member
of Asbury United Methodist Church in Albion, Albion Rotary, American Legion Post
246, OES, Lodge 97 F&AM, and Fort Wayne Scottish Rite. He was born in
Ann Arbor, Mich. on Nov. 3, 1916 to Albert and Stella Mae (Seiple)
Thompson. He graduated in 1937 from Ann Arbor High School and received a
degree from Tri-State University in Angola. He married Sara Berniece
Strater in Albion on Dec. 14, 1940. Surviving are his wife in Albion; 2
sons and a daughter-in-law, Lynn and Sharon of Fort Wayne and Benjamin of
Albion; and a daughter, Jannie Rhodes of Goshen. He was preceded in death
by a daughter, Sally Burkitt and a brother, Charles. Services Saturday at

Thompson Fannie, 78, died last Sunday at a hospital in Portland, Ore.
following a major operation. Widow of the late Adolphus Thompson, she was born
and grew to womanhood near Albion, the family moving to the west more than 40
years ago. Besides a daughter in Portland, Ore., and a brother William Shew of
Albion, she is survived by a brother, G. M. Shew of Kendallville. + 3-?-1929
Thompson Fern M, 87, died at National Nursing Home today. She
had been a resident of South Milford. She was born July 9, 1884 in LaGrange
County to Ephriam and Olive (Lewis) Stockwell and was married June 27, 1905 in
LaGrange to Clyde G. Thompson, who died June 8, 1961. She was a member of the
Christian Church in South Milford and Rebekah Lodge and OES in Kendallville. She
is survived by one son, Wayne, R. 2; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Thompson Frances E, 89, of Kendallville, died April 12, 2004 at
home. She had been a hostess at McDonald's and Wendy's restaurants in
Kendallville and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was
born in Claypool on Jan. 25, 1915 to George Washington and Lena May (Stahl)
Droud. She married Albert Gerald Thompson on Sept. 1, 1933 in
Warsaw. He died Aug. 2, 1971. Surviving are a daughter, Chyrle E.
Thompson of Kendallville; a son, John G. Thompson of Indianapolis; 3

Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born Jan. 18, 1893 in Churubusco and had been a
lifetime resident of that community, working at the trade of barbering until his

Thompson Gertrude, 83, Ligonier, died Saturday at Goshen
Hospital following an apparent stroke suffered at her residence Friday. She was
born July 30, 1894 in Topeka, Kans., a daughter of Alan and Anna (Deming) Gray.
She married Leland Thompson Sept. 30, 1918 in Topeka, Kans. He died in 1968.
They owned and published the Ligonier Leader for many years. Survivors are a
daughter, Caroline Wainright, E. Lansing, Mich.; and several grandchildren. One
son, Alan, died in 1976. A graveside service will be held today in Oak Park

heart trouble and dropsy. Surviving are the husband, Charles; and a daughter,

Thompson Ira J, 93, of Wolf Lake, died Friday in Miller’s
Merry Manor, Columbia City. He was born May 22, 1892 in York Twp to William E.
and Rose Alta Altimus Thompson. He married Reuah J. Boggs Coverstone, who is
deceased, May 4, 1929. He was a WW I Army veteran. He was a mechanic, a member
of Wolf Lake Baptist Church, American Legion Post 246 of Albion, and a former
member of the Disabled American Veterans. He graduated from Wolf Lake High
School in 1916 before attending Valparaiso and Notre Dame Universities.
Surviving are a daughter, Lillian Swanson of Oak Lawn, Ill.; a son, William E.
of Leesburg; one stepson, John Coverstone of Ligonier; 3 stepdaughters, Eldora
Braden of Columbia City, Mrs. Lena Kiester and Mrs. Grace Buckles of R. 1,
Kimmell; one brother, Chauncey of R. 2, Albion; one sister Mrs. Rose May Wagoner
of Sturgis, Mich.; 25 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 6

Thompson Jack W, 61, of LaOtto, died Wednesday in his home. He was
born in Fort Wayne January 24, 1932, the son of Arthur and Goldie (Gause)
Thompson. He had lived at LaOtto 38 years and was the former owner of
Thompson's Shooting Supply. Formerly employed by GTE, he was a veteran of
the Korean Conflict and a member of the National Rifle Association.

county, died on Sunday at the residence of his son-in-law, James Burr. He was

Thompson James, pioneer of Noble County, died at his residence 4 miles
northwest of this city in Elkhart Twp Monday, aged 88 years and 5
months. His son, Alfred, on Friday evening of last week went out of the house
for a few moments and when he returned he found his father sitting in the chair
unconscious. He gradually grew weaker until death. He came to Noble County in
1850 and remained a continuous resident of Elkhart Twp. He is survived by 2
sons, Alfred and Lenious, who resided with him; and 2 grandchildren. Obsequies

Thompson James S, 91, Heightstown, N.J., died July 20 in the Meadow Lake
Infirmary. Born Sept. 2, 1887 in Ligonier, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
G. Thompson, founder of the Ligonier Leader. He had been a resident of Meadow
Lakes for the past 12 years. He was a 1910 graduate of the University of
Wisconsin. His only place of employment (1910-1949) was the McGraw-Hill Book Co.
of New York, being president from 1944 until retirement in 1949. Surviving is
one son, James S. Jr. of LaJolla, Calif.; 6 grandchildren and 8

He was born in Haskins County, Ohio, on January 21, 1931, to Roy and Anna
Grace (Brown) Thompson. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired after
26 years from Newnam Foundry in Kendallville. He married Mary (Treadway) Thompson on January 7, 1971, in Fort Wayne.
Surviving are his wife; his sons, John Thompson Jr. and Mike Thompson;

resident, died Saturday at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Rockford, Ill., of
heart attack. He was born in Kendallville Oct. 23, 1946 to John and Lucille
(Moore) Thompson. He moved from Wolcottville to Roscoe 2 years ago. He was
employed by Rockton Grain Elevator. Surviving are his mother and stepfather,

her residence. She was born January 15, 1923 in Lima, Oh. to Guy and Vena

Noble American Legion Post 243; a member of the Nazarene Church; West Noble

Thompson Leland K, 76, publisher of The Ligonier Leader, a weekly
newspaper, for 48 years before selling the publication a year ago to Armon
Davis, died Saturday of a heart attack. He was born Jan. 1, 1892 in
Ligonier, the son of Edwin J. and Ella (Kennedy) Thompson and had spent most of
his lifetime in that city. He married Gertrude Gray in Topeka, Kansas on Sept.
30, 1918. During the first war he served as secretary to Congressman Fairfield
in Washington D.C. He was a member of the Ligonier Methodist Church, the Masonic
and Elks Lodges in Ligonier, Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and Ligonier Rotary Club.
The wife; one son, Alan, Columbus, Ind.; one daughter, Mrs. Caroline Wainright,
E. Lansing, Mich.; three grandchildren; one brother, James S., Knightstown,

Thompson Lenious, 81, died April 21 from a stroke of paralysis at the
home of Mrs. Della Charter in Albion where he had resided for a number of years.
He was a pioneer citizen of the county, a successful farmer north of Albion.

in Kosciusko Hospital. She was born Sept. 12, 1890 in Clinton County. She first
married Charles Cooper, who preceded her in death. She then married Earl C.

of Chatham, Mich.; 2 sons, Morris B. Cooper of Ligonier, and Robert A.
Cooper of Leesburg, Fla.; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and one

Thompson Manassah, 72, died at the residence of his son-in-law,
Samuel Edwards, on March 24, 1875. He was one of the early settlers of Noble County.
Tall and muscular - of iron frame and great endurance, industrious,
honest and thrifty, he had an affection of the lungs which ended in consumption. Funeral was at the U.B. Church in Albion Friday last.

She was born in Oak Hills, W. Va., on June 28, 1941, the daughter of
Luther and Irene (Baumgartner) Treadway. On Jan. 7, 1971, she married John Thompson and he died on Feb. 13, 2011.
She was a shipping clerk. Surviving are her sons Earl (Becky) Price, John (Jackie) Price, and Terry Baumgartner;

Thompson Monna Lou, 70, died July 19, 2003 at Parkview Noble
Hospital. She was born Sept. 24, 1932 in Goshen to Demas and Evelyn (Huff)
Giant. She married Richard Thompson on Dec. 15, 1951 in Wawaka. She
worked for Essex Wire 12 years and then at the Rome City School cafeteria for 10
years. She was a member of Rome City Methodist Church, American Legion
Post 381 Auxiliary in Rome City and VFW Post 2749 Auxiliary in
Kendallville. Surviving are her husband; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law,
Mark and Laurie, and Mike of Rome City; a brother, Richard Giant of Tenn.; and 2
grandsons, Cody and Brock Thompson. A brother and a grandson preceded her

County Hospital. Born in Noble Twp Oct. 14, 1889, she was the daughter of John
and Eldora (Bonar) Boggs. She was married to Samuel Coverstone who died in 1924.
On May 4, 1929 she married Ira H. Thompson. She had been a resident of Wolf Lake
and was a self-employed paper hanger. She was a member of the Wolf Lake Baptist
Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Albion. Surviving are her husband; 5
daughters, Mrs. Eldora Braden, Wolf Lake, Mrs. Lena Kiester and Mrs. Grace

Elmer E. Thompson who died in 1964. She was a lifetime area resident. Surviving

Thompson Sophia (Dickson) died at her home 4 miles north of the city in
Elkhart Twp Aug. 3, 1901, aged 75 years, 2 months and 25 days. She was born in
Plymouth, Richland County, Ohio, May 8, 1826, and was married to
James Thompson March 1844 and they removed to Elkhart Twp in
the fall of 1850 and settled on the farm where she died. They had four sons, 2 of whom, Calvin and
Elza, preceded their mother in death. She was one of the pioneers of Noble County, having lived in Elkhart Twp on the same
farm for nearly 51 years. The obsequies were held at the residence Monday. Burial, Osborn Cemetery. She leaves an aged husband; 2 sons,

Twp home. He was born April 18, 1919 in Roanoke to Paul J. and Minnie
Ethel (Sexton) Thompson. On November 6, 1938 he married Ada Marie Poinsett.
She died August 16, 1996. He married Cathy (Cole) Merriman on February 13,
2004. Surviving are his wife; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Dwayne
Hass of Albion, Arlene and Dale Freeman of Huntertown and Gail and Jim Rodenbeck
of Kendallville; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Jr. and Becky of Albion and
Chuck and Donna of Avilla; 19 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild. A lifetime farmer, he had worked as a fireman for
the Nickel Plate Railroad and was a sales representative for Moorman Feed
Co. He had owned the Dairy Queen in Waterloo for several years. He
moved to Avilla in 1966. A U.S. Army veteran of WW II, he was a member of

of rural Albion, died April 5, 2013 at his residence. He was born on Nov. 11, 1946 in
Huntington to Wayne E. and Ada (Poinsett) Thompson, . He graduated in 1965 from
Waterloo High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army
from 1966 to 1969, in Vietnam. On Oct. 4, 1969, in Albion, he
married Rebecca (Becky) Hullinger .He worked at Dexter Axle in Albion
and retired after 41 years of service. He was a member of the the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; 2 sons, Earl (Jenny ) Thompson of Avilla, and Paul
(Melissa) Thompson of Kendallville; 5 grandchildren, Cole and Kyle

resident of the Kendallville area, he retired from McCray Refrigeration in

Thompson Wilbur H, 64, former Ligonier boy, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. G.
Thompson, died March 9 from a sudden heart attack at his home in Dayton, Ohio.
He was a graduate of Ligonier schools, an electrical engineer of note and a 32nd

Thompson William A, 32, Adams Lake, was killed in a single-engine plane
crash near Garden City, Kansas Friday. Funeral will be Friday at
Trinity Church United Methodist. Surviving are his wife, Susan, Adams Lake; his
parents, Dr. Alden B. and Doris Thompson, Kendallville; a sister, Mrs. Howard
(Sally) Calderon, Carmel; a brother John, Indianapolis; grandmothers, Nellie
Whysong, Kendallville, and Ellie Thompson, Hebron, Ind. Following cremation,
burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. A graduate of Indiana University Dental
School at Indianapolis, he had been in practice with his father at the Medical
Arts Center, Kendallville, since 1981. He was reported to have been advised
several times of poor weather conditions in western Kansas. There was snow and
heavy fog in the area. The plane crashed in a wheat field one mile south of the
Garden City, Kansas airport probably around midnight. The wreckage wasn’t
spotted until Monday afternoon by an Air Midwest Pilot. +3-30-1984
Thompson William E was born in Noble County, on Feb. 13, 1863, and died in Wolf Lake on Oct. 6, 1931, being 68 years, 7 months and 23 days
of age. He was the son of Thomas and Sarah Thompson. He is survived by one
brother and one sister, Sam Thompson, and Mrs. Sarah Campbell, both of Missouri.
In Dec. 1891 he was married to Rose Altimus. They had 6 children, Otto
and Abraham having died. He is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters, James
Ira, Chauncey G., Mrs. Ovia M. Ferrell and Mae; 8 grandchildren and his
wife who is in a hospital at Richmond. He was a member of the Baptist Church at

Thorn Frank, 88, a lifelong resident of Noble County, died Thursday at his home ½ mile north of Ormas. He was born in Noble County
Aug. 14, 1859, a son of Thomas and Amelia Thorn. On March 31, 1881 he
married Mary Ann Wallace and they established their home on the farm where he
has resided all his life. She died May 12, 1936. Surviving are 2 sons, Ralph of
Washington Twp, and Emerson, Warsaw; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Home. He was a truck driver for PepsiCo and Midwest Trucking of

He married Bessie Ball in Rochester, N.Y. on May 3, 1957. She died Sept. 10,

Thrapp Anna died Sunday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Garrett. She
was born in Lincolnshire, England, July 29, 1866, and came to the United States
as a small child with her parents, George and Elizabeth Cottingham. Most of her
girlhood was spent at Delta, Ohio, where her father owned and operated a plant
for making lye out of wood ashes and known as an "ashery". She met her
husband, Elmer Thrapp in Leipsic, Ohio, where he was the proprietor and operator
of the electric light plant. Mr. and Mrs. Thrapp were married in 1890 and they
came to Avilla in 1894. He was a registered pharmacist and had a drug store
here. He died in 1934. She and her family continued to operate the Economy Drug
Store here until just a couple of years ago. Survivors are a son, Glenn, of
Kendallville; a daughter, Mrs. M. Diederich of Garrett; two granddaughters,
Roslyn Rogers and Elizabeth Thrapp, a grandson, John Thrapp and one

Thrapp Elizabeth J, 78, of Kendallville, died Sunday in St. Vincent's
Hospice in Indianapolis. She was born in Kendallville on June 4, 1919 to

she married James R. Thrapp. He died December 1980. A 1937
Kendallville High School graduate and salutatorian of her class, she retired in
1982 after more than 20 years as a legal secretary for Emerick & Diggins. She was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist, Tri Kappa

attack. He was a druggist there for the past 35 years. He is survived by the

Thrapp Glenn, 85, died Sunday in McCray Hospital. He was born
Dec. 8, 1892 in Deshler, Ohio to Elmer E. and Anna (Cottingham) Thrapp. He
married Ruth Yeiser, who died March 14, 1975. He was a graduate of Avilla High
School and Valparaiso University of Law. He was a veteran of WW I and served as
major in the United States Artillery. He was prosecuting attorney in Noble and
Whitley Counties from 1932 to 1936. He was a charter member of the Kendallville
Rotary Club, member of American Legion Post 86, Indiana State Bar Association,
Noble County Bar Association and Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors
include a son, John, attorney in Kendallville; a daughter, Elizabeth, wife of
Dr. B. L. Bou, Corozal, Puerto Rico; one sister, May Diederich Garrett;

McCray Hospital after suffering a heart attack playing racquetball at the Cole
Center Family YMCA. The son of James R. and Lura (Taylor) Thrapp, he was born in
Kendallville Oct. 22, 1919. On July 15, 1945 in Wolcottville he married
Elizabeth J. King. He lived in Wolcottville for several years while growing up
but had resided in Kendallville most of his life. He had been employed in sales
at Flint & Walling Inc. since 1946. He was a veteran of WW II and a member
of Trinity Church United Methodist, Kendallville Lions Club, Masonic Lodge No.
276, Elks Club No. 1194, VFW and Cole Center YMCA. Surviving are his wife; a

Sept. 11, 2010 at Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. He was born in Indianapolis on May 1, 1934 to Glenn E. and Ruth (Yeiser) Thrapp. He
graduated from Kendallville High Schoolin 1952 and later from Wabash
College following service to his country in the US Army. He graduated from
the University of Louisville School of Law. He married Betty Jean Bauer on
June 8, 1957 in Auburn. He was an attorney in Kendallville for many years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard (Linda) of Indianapolis; a daughter, Susie, of
Louisville, Kentucky; and 4 grandchildren, Katie, Julie, J.T. and Kelly
Thrapp. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Bou. No

Thrapp Ruth E, 80, was born Nov. 9, 1894 near Avilla to Frank C. and
Helen (Schutt) Yeiser and married Glenn Thrapp July 26, 1924. They resided at 214
E. Diamond St., Kendallville. She was a former teacher, a member of the Trinity
Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 34 years, the Bay View Club
and the Culture Club. She died Friday. Surviving in addition to the
husband, who is a Kendallville attorney, are one daughter and son-in-law, Dr.
and Mrs. D. L. (Elizabeth) Bow, Corozal, Puerto Rico; a son, John Thrapp, a
Kendallville attorney; a sister, Mrs. K. D. (Grace) Sneary, Avilla; and four
grandchildren. One sister preceded her in death. Services Monday at the

Throp Bessie C, 86, of 843 S. Main St., died Saturday in
DeKalb Hospital. She was born in Kendallville Sept. 20, 1898, the daughter of
Henry F. and Nettie Alverna (Harp) Miller. On Aug. 23, 1918 in Portland she
married Chester A. Throp. A lifetime Kendallville resident, she retired in 1962
from McCray Refrigeration where she had worked in the office 46 years. She was a
member of First Presbyterian Church, a charter member of Sigma Beta Sorority and
a Lady Elk. Surviving are her husband; 2 nieces, Marilyn Sibert of Fort Wayne
and Shirley Fraze of Kendallville; and a brother, Guy N. Miller, Kendallville. A

Throp Chester A, 89, of 843 S. Main St., Kendallville, died today in McCray Hospital. Born in Portland May 19, 1898, he was the son of Ervin
E. and Lulu Belle (Myers) Throp. On Aug. 23, 1918 in Portland, he married Bessie
C. Miller, who died Nov. 10, 1984. He lived most of his life in Kendallville,
moving from Portland at the age of 7. He retired from McCray Refrigerator office
where he worked 45 years. He and his wife had a combined total of 91 years of
employment at McCray. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church,
Kendallville, a lifetime member of Elks Lodge No. 1194, the 20-Year Club of
McCray, and he played with the Kendallville city band and other musical
organizations for over 30 years. Surviving are a sister, Virginia R. West
of Fort Wayne; and 2 nieces, Marilyn Sibert and Shirley Fraze of Kendallville.

Thrush Ambrose W, 68, R. 1, Garrett, died Tuesday in the home in which he
was born and had resided all his life. He was born August 28, 1914, the son of
the late Walter and Inez (Heitz) Thrush. He married Lamonna Gingrich on June 21,
1936 in Auburn. He was a retired farmer and also had retired from Dana Corp. He
was a 32nd degree Mason at Huntertown Lodge. Surviving are his wife;
a daughter, Mrs. Maurice (Janet) Getts, Garrett; four sons, Ted D., Larry W.,
Garry E. and Kenneth D., all Garrett; three brothers, Albert, Garrett, Robert,
LaOtto, and Jack, Avilla; and 12 grandchildren. Services March 4 in Feller

Thrush Richard A, 51, of Skinner Lake, died Aug. 15 in the Hospice Home
of Northeast Indiana, Fort Wayne. On Aug. 23, 1945 in Garrett he was born to
Robert and Jean (Whonsetler) Thrush. He graduated from Avilla High School in
1963 and served in the U. S. Army National Guard. He had lived in the Albion
area since 1968. He was an electronic technician in the aero-space division of
Lockheed-Martin in Fort Wayne; a member of S. Mark’s Lutheran Church in
Albion, Albion Masonic Lodge 97, Kendallville Elks Lodge 1194, Elex Association
and Skinner Lake Homeowners Association. Surviving are his parents; 2 daughters,
Mrs. Troy (Stacy) Foote of Churubusco and Mrs. Todd (Becky) Freeman of Albion;
one sister, Mrs. Charles (Judy) Wolf of Kendallville; 2 grandchildren and

Thrush Robert M, 80, LaOtto, died Oct. 27 in ExtendaCare
nursing home in Kendallville. For many years he was a director of the Farmers
and Merchants Bank in LaOtto and Huntertown. He was a supervisor at
International Harvester for 37 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the
American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, the Shrine and Emmanuel Lutheran
Church in LaOtto. He was born Aug. 15, 1917 in DeKalb County to Walter
and Inz (Heitz) Thrush. He married Jean Whonsetler on Sept. 14, 1944 in Garrett.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Judy Wolf of Kendallville; 2 brothers,
Albert of Garrett and Jack of Auburn; 4 grandchildren, Stacy Foote, Rebecca
Freeman, Zachary and Joshua Wolfe; and 2 great-grandchildren. One son, Richard,

Thumma Emanuel B, 66, whose boyhood was spent at Wolf Lake where he
resided, and who became mayor of Garrett after locating in that city and later
an employee of the internal revenue office at Fort Wayne, died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital from complications. He was a member of Fort Wayne
Elks since 1898. Surviving are the widow and one daughter who reside in Garrett;

Thumma John Mrs died at her home in Wolf Lake last Thursday, aged
69 years and 12 days. She had resided for a number of years at Wolf Lake. She is
survived by an aged husband and one daughter, Mrs. T. W. Adair of Ormas.
Obsequies were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Wolf Lake Sunday. > 4-1-1908. About a year ago she experienced trouble from an
ingrown toenail. A physician attempted to cut it out with the result that
gangrene developed. As a last resort to prolong her life the foot was amputated
above the ankle 5 or 6 weeks ago. ^ 3-19-1908

Thunander Lena, 75, 109 Richmond St., died Tuesday in Goshen
Hospital of a heart attack. She was born June 7, 1897 in Noble County to William
and Anna (Schlotterback) Lecount and was a lifetime resident of Ligonier and
Kimmell communities. On Feb. 21, 1917 she was married in Kimmell to Wayne
Thunander, who died Jan. 14, 1962. She was a member of Sparta Church of Christ.
Surviving are 4 daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Birdie) Price, Mrs. Lloyd (Anna) Patrick
and Mrs. Don (Donna) Seidner of Ligonier, and Mrs. Ruth Knox, R. 1, Cromwell;
one brother, Millard, Fla.; and 17 grandchildren. Funeral at the Sparta

Tibbott Barbara (Hull) was one of the first pioneers; was married to
Isaac Tibbot in the fall of 1834 and had lived in Elkhart Twp 62 years. Her
husband was 24 years of age when they were married and if living would now be
over 86. Her age was probably over 80 years. She began housekeeping in a log
cabin five years before the Indians left. + Clippings book. She was born in
Virginia Nov. 24, 1814; died at her home in Wawaka, Dec. 30, 1899, aged 85
years, 1 months and 6 days. She married Isaac Tibbot and in the winter of
1834 came to Elkhart Twp Noble County, and settled in the dense forest where
Wawaka now stands. Her husband died on Nov. 11, 1886. They were the
first settlers of Noble County. She was the mother of 8 children, all of
who have preceded her in death, except 3 daughters, 2 of whom, Sarah and Emily,
who live at Wawaka, and Mary in Calif. Funeral at her homestead at her

Tibbott Isaac, 77, of Wawaka, who enjoyed the distinction of being the
oldest white settler in Noble County, died last Saturday. ^ 12-17-1886 He was
born in Marion County, Ohio Aug. 3, 1810; died at his home in Wawaka Nov. 11,
1886, being over 76 years of age. In 1834 he married Barbara Hull, who is still

Tice America Gertrude, 83 of Ligonier, died July 21, 2006 at Regency
Place Nursing Home. She had been a registered nurse. She was born
July 18, 1923 in Grundy, Va. to Halder and Victoria (Davis) Munsey. She
married Willis Tice on March 15, 1952 in Angola. He died in 1973.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hassel Munsey.

Tice Edward, about 58, died at McCray Hospital March 24,
1945 from a broken back and shock sustained in a fall from a farm wagon at his
home 2 miles west of Wawaka late Wednesday. He was born Feb. 28, 1887
in Goshen. On Feb. 19, 1911 he married Pearl Wilkinson. He
was a member of the Wawaka Grange and the Methodist Church of Ligonier.
Surviving are the wife; 2 daughters, Mrs. Helen Castetter of Cosperville, Mrs.
Wilma Bruce of Fort Wayne; and a son, Willis at home; 4 brothers, Ray of San
Bruno, Calif., John of Kalamazoo, Mich., Joe and Louis of Goshen; 4 sisters,

Tice Martha Pearl, 81, R. 1, Wawaka, was found dead at her home Monday after having collapsed while mowing her lawn. She died of an apparent
heart attack. Born Nov. 13, 1892 in Kosciusko County, she married Edward Tice
Feb. 19, 1911. He died in 1945. She was a resident of the Wawaka area 63 years
and a member of Richville United Methodist Church, Indiana State Grange, Wawaka
Grange, Elkhart County Pomona Grange and Rebekah Lodge in Albion. Surviving are
2 daughters, Mrs. Donald (Helen) Castetter, Wawaka, and Mrs. Fred (Wilma) Beahrs,

Tidd Lydia (Parkman), living 1 ½ miles west of Rome City, died Aug. 22. She was born July 31, 1824 in Geauga County, Ohio, age 70 years
and 22 days. She was married to William E. Tidd Feb. 8, 1843. She leave a
husband, 3 sons and one daughter. Funeral at Rome City in the M. E. Church.

Tidrick Lillian died Feb. 7 at the Chamberlain, S. D. Hospital. She was
born Nov. 15, 1864 at Albion, the daughter of Daniel S. and Mary Andrews
Love. In June 1894 she was married to Charles Donald Tidrick at Alton, Iowa.
They moved to Chamberlain in 1895 and have lived here ever since. There are 3
children, Eugenia Lillian, Mary Shuck and Frances Bronson. She was confirmed
Jan. 15, 1905. The Order for the Burial of the Dead was read at Christ Church.

widow of Robert Tieman, she was born in Indiana and was a member of the Emmanuel

Tieman Richard Wayne, 77, of Kendallville, died March 9, 2005 at Parkview
Noble Hospital. A real estate broker, he was a past member of the Indiana
Board of Realtors. He owned a fishing and hunting resort in Wisconsin,
retiring in 1995. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a member of the American
Legion. He was born April 12, 1927 in Fort Wayne to Franklin and Maude
Tieman. On Aug. 2, 1947 in Fort Wayne he married Ilene Mullendore.
She died Oct. 20, 1996. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Steven
and Millie Tieman of Butler; a sister, Wanda Widmann of LaGrange; and 4
grandchildren and their spouses, Shelly and Jeff Shultz, Christena and Jim Huff,
Steven Tieman, and Laura and Ben Rollins. He was preceded in death by a

Tierman Lillian Mae, 58, a former Kendallville resident who had been
residing at Muskegon Heights, Mich., died Monday in Butler
Hospital, Muskegon. Born Nov. 4, 1915 in Noble County, she was the daughter of
Homer W. and Elva (Newman) Frederick. She married William Tierman July 3,
1937 in Kendallville. She was employed in the coil room of Anaconda Cable Co.,
Muskegon and was a member of First Church of Christ, Kendallville. Surviving are
her husband; 2 daughters, Mrs. Judith Luttrull, Holton, Mich., and Bonnie Jean
at home; 2 sisters, Mrs. Virginia Schlotterback, Kendallville, and Mrs.

Tierney James E, 66, of Atwood Lake, Wolcottville, died Nov. 1 in his residence. He was born Aug. 8, 1931 in Noble County to
John L. and Mary C. (Stark) Tierney. On Feb. 23, 1957 in Ligonier he married
Nancy J. Chrisman. He had lived in Wawaka for many years until moving to Atwood
Lake 12 years ago. He retired from Fairmont Homes in Nappanee after 25 years. He
was an Air Force veteran and a member of St. Gaspar’s Catholic Church of Rome
City, Kendallville Elks, LaGrange Moose and American Legion Post 381, Rome City.
He attended Notre Dame University. Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Bruce E of
Avilla and Eric L. of Wawaka; a brother, John P. of Logansport; and a

born June 20, 1887 in Jennings County and was married to Mae Stark in 1923. She
died in 1949. He had lived in Noble County about 44 years and was a veteran of
WW I. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ligonier. Surviving

New Buffalo, Mich.; one sister, Katherine at Los Angeles, Calif.; and 6

Tierney Nancy Jane, 68, of Wolcottville, died February 3, 2005 at
Renaissance Village, Whitley County. She was born September 10, 1936 in
Ligonier, the daughter of Harley and Dorothy (Dickinson) Chrisman. She
married James Tierney on February 24, 1958 in Ligonier. Surviving are her
sons, Eric of Wawaka and Bruce of Avilla; brothers, Ray of LaGrange, Don of
Ligonier, and Lee of Warsaw; sister, Barbara Leamon, of Cromwell; 3
grandchildren, Kate, Libby and Shayne Tierney. She was preceded in death
by her husband. A lifetime Noble County resident, she had been employed by
Astec Industries in inspection. She was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic

Union County Hospital, Anna, Ill. She was born in Gary, April 5, 1913, the

married Frank Tierney. She moved from Rome City to Ill. in 1959. Surviving are

Tilker Fred, 69, superintendent and manager of the Northern Indiana Sand
& Gravel Co. in Wolcottville, died at his home today, presumably due to a heart attack. He came here several years ago from
Fort Wayne. Surviving are the widow; a son, E. H. of Rome City; a daughter, Mrs.
Clara Miller, Kendallville; 2 sisters, Mrs. Sophia Greub and Mrs. Mary Auman;

Timbrook Lavon Archie, 85, died Sunday in Lutheran Home,
Kendallville. He was born in Hicksville, Ohio, and had lived in Fort Wayne 34
years. He was a retired farmer and retired in 1967 from Kresge warehouse.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Mary Lou Patterson, Angola, and Rowena Bowers of
Kendallville; 4 sons, Victor L., Wayne E., Philip A., and David L. Timbrook, all
of Hicksville; and 24 grandchildren. Services Wednesday in Sherman St.

Timmerman Alexander died at his home near Waterloo on Monday. Many years
ago he resided in Swan Twp and was one of the very early settlers of that part
of the county. His father owned a farm about one and a half miles south of

Timmerman Martha Jane, daughter of Augustus and Olive Eddy, was born in
Big Prairie, Wayne, County, Ohio, Feb. 15, 1831. Was married to Reuel Kimbel
Timmerman March 24, 1852. They had 2 children, a son who died in
infancy, and a daughter, Olive, Mrs. Charles Ihrie. Her husband died Nov. 9,
1860. She was married to Joseph H. Cox Sept. 1, 1868, with whom she lived a
quite happy life until the serious illness of her husband cast a shadow over the
home. She died Feb. 21, 1903. She was a member of the Christian Church. She
leaves a husband, a daughter, a brother and sister and 7 grandchildren. ^

Timmerman Sally A, 67, of Churubusco, died June 28, 2006 in the emergency
room at Parkview Whitley Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at
her home. She was born August 3, 1938 in Wallen to Nolan "Bud"
and Dorothy (Golden) Tom. She married Don Timmerman on April 27, 1957 in
Wallen. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Susan Merriman of Avilla; 3
sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Dana of Avilla, Dean and Melanie of LaOtto
and Kris and Teresa of Huntertown; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Leland
"Dubb" Coak of Fort Wayne; a brother, Thomas Tom of Fort Wayne; a
sister-in-law, Betty Tom of Angola; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandson.

She was born in New Castle, Indiana, on August 24, 1954, to Philip and Margaret
(Marks) Downam. She married Ronnie Lee Timmons on December 31, 1969. She
was employed with DeWald Northeast Dental Group, Auburn. She also worked many
years with Shannon Arnett, D.D.S. Survivors include her husband; 2 sons,
Ron Jon Timmons of Fort Wayne and Phillip Timmons of Garrett; a daughter, Tammie
Timmons of Garrett; 8 grandchildren, Shaylynn Stollar, Shantel Stollar, Drew

Nursing Home. Born March 9, 1881 in LaGrange County, she was the daughter of
Thomas and Susan (Newhouse) Graham. She married Floyd Tincher on Nov. 14, 1931
in Ligonier. He preceded her in death. She lived in the area 70 years and was a
member of Richville United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs.
Kenneth (Dorothy) Egolf, Ligonier; a son, Robert, Goshen; 5 grandchildren and 9

Tinkey Chad Robert, 2-months old, died Sunday in Parkview
Hospital, Fort Wayne. Private graveside services were held this morning in Oak
Park Cemetery. He was born Feb. 7, in Fort Wayne to Robert and Karen (McLallin)
Tinkey of 305 W. 3rd St., Ligonier. Survivors include the parents;
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Tinkey of Ligonier and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
McLallin of Kimmell; great-grandparents, Mrs. Lillian McKrill of Warsaw, Mrs.

Tinkey Mary (McKrill) of Lakeview, Ark., and formerly of Ligonier, died
Sunday in an Ark. hospital. An Indiana native, she formerly owned and operated a
beauty shop in Ligonier. Surviving are her husband, Robert "Max"; 3
daughters, Cindy Holden and Peg and Sue Tinkey; and a son Robert Jr.

Tinkle Dorothy Mae, 94, died Nov. 9, 2007 at Parkview Noble
Hospital. She had worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne and
moved to Sarasota Fla. in 1966. She attended Kendallville High
School. She was born in Swan Twp in Noble County on Sept. 6, 1913 to
William and Berniece (Russell) Huff. She married Justin C. Tinkle on Dec.
30, 1939 in Goshen. He preceded her in death. She is survived by a
sister-in-law, Sue Huff of Kendallville. Also preceding her in death were
2 brothers, Bill and Tony Huff, and a sister, Evelyn Glant. No services

Tinsley Paul E, 22, shooting victim, died Wednesday in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Charges are being filed against his nephew,
21-year old Roy David Johnson. A Fort Wayne native, he was an employee of
Casavilla Co., Goshen, and a member of the Indiana National Guard. Surviving are
his wife, Peggy Sue; 2 sons, Byron and Scott; his parents, Joseph E. and Frances
M., both of Fort Wayne; 5 brothers, Joseph H. and Robert E. of Ligonier, Terry
and Michael of Fort Wayne, and James of Arkansas; and 4 sisters, Nancy Combs of
New Haven and Margaret Barlow, Diana Welling and Rita Beard of Fort Wayne.

Tipton Edward C, 93, of Albion, died Oct. 2, 2002 at The Oaks Living
Center in Columbia City. He was born March 19, 1909 in Rome City, a son of
Hugh and Eva Belle (Cobbs) Tipton. He graduated from Rome City High
School. In 1928 he married Ogden E. Morr. She died in 1957. In
1958 he married Grace Brumbaugh Kreider. He was employed at General
Electric as a foreman for 20 years and Ward Pattern Co. for 17 years, retiring
in 1974. Surviving are his wife; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, John and
Gwendolyn Tipton of Kendallville and Edward and Kathleen Tipton of Churubusco; a
daughter, Lois Kelly of Kendallville; 5 stepchildren; 29 grandchildren and many
great and several great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death
by a brother, Herbert; a sister, Marguerite Ritchey; a grandson, Toby Tipton;

Tipton Edward D, 77, of Churubusco, died Jan. 23, 2008 at his home.
H retired from Slater Steel in Fort Wayne in 1992 after 26 years. He was a
member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Churubusco and American Legion Post
82 in Fort Wayne. He graduated from Albion High School and served with the
U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was born in Albion on May
29, 1930 to Edward C. and Ogden (Morr) Tipton. He married Kathleen Miller
on June 12, 1954 in New York City. Surviving are his wife; a daughter and
son-in-law, Nancy and Daniel Poyser of Churubusco; a son, William of Albion; a
brother and sister-in-law, John and Gwen Tipton of Kendallville; a sister Lois
Kelly of Kendallville; 4 grandchildren, Brent, Lane, Ryne Poyser and Justin

a doctor’s office at Balsom Lake, Wis., where she and her husband had gone a
week ago for a vacation. Surviving are the husband; 2 sons, Herbert, Fort Wayne,
and Edward, Albion; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Speakman, Rome City; 8
grandchildren; a brother, C. M. Cobbs; and 2 sisters; Mrs. Laura Polster, Rome

Tipton Grace C, 93, of Albion, died March 21, 2004 at The Oaks Living
Center in Columbia City. A graduate of Albion High School, she was a
nurse's aide at Linville Hospital for 10 years and worked at Montgomery Ward for
one year. She was a member of Blue River Church of the Brethren. She
was born Oct. 9, 1910 in Whitley County to William and Ella Caroline (Zumbrun)
Brumbaugh. In 1929 she married Glenn Kreider. He died June 29,
1950. In 1958 she married Edward C. Tipton. He died Oct. 2,
2002. Surviving are 3 sons and daughters-in-law, David and Pat Kreider of
Columbia City, Rolland and Betty Kreider of Milford and Don and Marilee Kreider
of Columbia City; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn Swinehart of Fort Wayne
and Carol and Wayne Edwards of Albion; 3 stepchildren; a sister, Ruth Brumbaugh
of Fla.; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and 16
great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dwayne

He was a former Fort Wayne city councilman and service manager of Wayne Hardware

Tipton John H, 83, died August 8, 2012. He was born in
Albion on December 15, 1928, to Edward C. and Ogden (Morr) Tipton. He
graduated from Albion-Jefferson High School with the class of 1946. He married
Gwendlyn I. Berkes, on June 26, 1949, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
Along with his father, he owned and operated the Albion cement block factory in
the early 1950s. John then proceeded to work as a purchasing manager with
various local companies until he retired from Handy and Harmon in 1993.
Surviving are his wife; and sons, Stan (Mary) Tipton of Albion, Trevor (Debbie)
of Kendallville and Tracy (Julia) of Kendallville; a sister, Lois Kelly of
Kendallville; 13 grandchildren, Nate and Seth Tipton, Aaron and Stephanie
Tipton, Ben, Jay, Margaret and Colin Tipton, Drew (Chris) Conrad and Jordan
Tipton, and Sam, Emma and Molly Tipton; and4 great-grandchildren, Katie and Anna
Tipton, Libby Tipton and Hugh Conrad. He was preceded in death by a

moved to the Merriam area 23 years ago from Logansport and was a member of the
First United Methodist Church, Logansport. Surviving are her father and husband;

Tipton Theodore Adam, 2, Rome City, died of a skull fracture received Monday
(d.7-10-1972) when two motorboats collided on Sylvan Lake. The accident occurred when a boat driven by Thomas J. Markle 12, hit the
boat driven by Tipton’s mother, Alieta. He was born March 17, 1970, the
son of Toby and Alieta (Smith) Tipton. Services will be in St. Mark’s Lutheran

Tipton Toby, 48, of Indianaola, MS, and a Kendallville native, died Dec. 16, 1998 in his residence. He was born Aug. 3, 1950 in
Kendallville to John and Gwendlyn (Berkes) Tipton. A human resource manager for
SuperValu grocery, he had lived in Kendallville and Denver, Colo. He was a 1968
graduate of East Noble High School. Surviving are his parents in Kendallville; a
daughter Stephanie of Denver; 3 sons, Aaron of Denver, Nathan of Bloomington,
and Seth of Avilla; 3 brothers, Stan of Albion and Trevor and Tracy of
Kendallville; and his grandfather, Ed Tipton of Albion. He was preceded in death

Tish Emeline, a daughter of John and Jane Glosser, was born July
15, 1846 in Frederick County, Md., and died in Kendallville June 7, 1888.
She was aged 71 years, 10 months and 23 days. She was married to William Tish
Dec. 29, 1839. They had 5 sons and 3 daughters. The husband
and all the children but one son and daughter are still living. They moved to
Ohio the following year after their marriage where they resided until 1872, when
they moved to Kendallville, where they resided until her death. Funeral took
place from the M. E. Church Friday of last week. Burial, Lake View Cemetery. +

Tish William C died at Longcliff, Logansport Monday. Funeral was

Had he lived until Tuesday he would have been 54. He leaves a wife and a son,

1853 and died on Aug. 18, 1907. He was a resident of Kendallville
until mental weakness made it necessary to take him to the insane hospital at
Logansport, Ind. He married Ella Reyher in 1871, of whom he was bereft by death
2 years later. In 1879 he married Eva Hammel. They had 2 children, one
preceding him in death. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. ^

Tittle Lucy, 70, (Mrs. Charles) Tucson, Ariz., daughter of
Mrs. Mary McCormick of Avilla, died there March 28, following a long
illness. She was a native of Fort Wayne and moved to Tucson 15 years ago. In
addition to the mother here, she is survived by the husband, a son, two sisters,

She was formerly employed at Monsanto in Ligonier and had worked for Golden's
Furniture in Ligonier. She was a life member of The Yarley Club in

Todd Charles W, 88, died May 19, 2007 at his Ligonier home. He was
born in Elkhart Twp on April 30, 1919 to Virgil and Coy (Smith) Todd. He
married Carol Hamrick on Feb. 28, 1938. He was a travel trailer salesman,
farm appraiser and realtor. He served in Europe in WW II, earning a combat
infantry badge and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Ligonier Rotary
Club. Surviving are his wife; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Jr. and
Sonia and Joseph and Susan Todd of Syracuse; 2 grandsons, William and Joseph Jr.
Todd; 2 granddaughters, Marsha Austen and Christine Todd; and 3
great-grandchildren, Darien Todd and Jack and Nicole Austen. He was
preceded in death by a sister, Janis; and an infant daughter, Margaret.

Todd Eldora, 60, Garden St., resident of this city for 34 years, died this morning at the home of Mrs. Etta
Traxler, 113 S. Riley St., after being seriously ill for several days. Born February 23, 1873 near Decatur, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Counterman. Following the death of her parents, when she was two years of age, she made her home with an aunt and uncle. In 1891 she was united in marriage to J. C. Todd at St. Louis MO. Mr. Todd died five years ago. The couple moved here from Ohio 34 years ago. She was a member of the Evangelical Church. Surviving are 2 sons, Aubrey of Ligonier and Doyle in Illinois; and one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Wilson,

Todd Gerald J, 72, of 214 W. Jefferson, Albion, died today (d.
8-10-1979) in McCray Hospital. Born Feb. 1, 1907 he was the son of William
J. and Etta M. (Sams) Todd. On July 12, 1927 he married Madeline Weeks in
Albion. He was a retired postal employee and operated a shoe repair shop in
Albion since 1947. He was an Army veteran of WW II and was a member of Trinity
United Methodist Church in Albion, the American Legion and Noble County
Historical Society. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John (Janice)
Pearsall, and a son, Buddy D. Todd of Albion; 3 grandchildren and 2

Todd Jay C: Funeral services for Jay C Todd, 75, who died Saturday at his home, 417 Garden St., will be Tuesday afternoon at the Arthur J Berhalter Funeral Home with Rev. Ambrose Aegarter officiating. A well-known resident of this city since 1909, he had been critically ill a week with heart disease. Until a week ago he had been active, there being no indication of the serious illness to follow. He was born April 18, 1872 in Morgan County MO, the son of Jonathan and Sarah Todd. He was one of 13 children. September 25, 1893 he was united in marriage to Alcey E Counterman at St. Louis MO, and shortly thereafter the couple moved to Ohio. In 1909 the family moved to this city where Mr. Todd accepted a position as superintendent of the Raber & Lang Co., employed in that capacity the following 18 years. Twelve years ago he became employed at the Flint & Walling Mfg Co., working in the sheet metal department. He had been a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge 46 years and was a member of the Evangelical Church. Surviving are the widow; 2 sons, Aubrey of Ligonier and Doyle of Waukegan IL; a daughter, Mrs. Olivia Wilson of southwest of the city; one brother and one sister, Warren and Mrs. Sarah Tipton, both of Missouri; and 8 grandchildren. Deardorff He moved to Ligonier in 1949 from Goshen. He was a retired
teacher, having taught in Wawaka, Goshen and Waterford schools. He was a
member of the Indiana State Teachers Association. Surviving are his wife;

She had formerly co-owned Todd’s Café in Ligonier. Her husband, Roland Jr.,

was married in 1916 in Albion to Marie Whitford. He died in Jan. 1970. He was a
retired farmer and lived in this area 30 years. He was a member of VFW. He is
survived by 2 sons, Robert, R. 3, Wolcottville, and Keith, R. 2, Howe; 3

in her home. Born in Noble County May 17, 1895, she was the daughter of Daniel

Todd Madeline N, 94, died July 16, 2002 at Parkview Noble Hospital.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Albion. She was born
to Todd and Zelma (Bowen) Weeks July 12, 1908 in Noble County. She married
Gerald J. Todd in Noble County July 12, 1927. He died Aug. 10, 1979.
Three sisters, Alverta Young, Welcome VanAman and Evelyn Dressler, preceded her
in death. Surviving are a son, Buddy of Albion; a sister, Mary Barcus of
Garrett; 8 grandchildren, Charles, Steven, Kevin and Jeffery Todd, Diane Lawson,

Todd Mary Elizabeth was born Feb. 7, 1851 in Lawrence County, Pa. and
died May 22, 1930, aged 79 years, 3 and ½ months. She was the widow of
Martin V. Todd, Civil War veteran who died 27 years ago; and the mother
of 11 children, six of whom survive her, Elma Myers, Mary Emma Brackney, Minnie
Soliday, Maude Heller, William J. Todd and Pearl Pattison. A sister,
Margaret Ulen,; brother, John C. Reed; 5 grandchildren; and several
great-grandchildren survive. She was a resident of Albion for the past 30 years,
a member of the United Brethren Church and of the G.A.R. post. + 5-?-1930
Todd Mary L, 73, of Goshen, died March 14, 2006 at her home. She
was born Aug. 20, 1932 in Rome City to Willis and Gola (Greenawalt) Gonser.
She married James L. Todd on May 17, 1997. Surviving are her husband; a
daughter and son-in-law, Tresa and Will Jones of Three Rivers, Mich.; a son and
daughter-in-law, Rex and Shirley Yoder of Bronson, Mich.; a sister, Gloria
Gonser of Sturgis, Mich.; 3 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law, Walter and Mary Lou
Gonser of LaGrange, Morse and Thelma Gonser of Big Cliffy, Ky., and William
Gonser of Topeka; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by a son, Dennis Yoder; and 3 brothers, Robert, Dale and Wayne

Todd Nadine, 93, died Jan. 29, 2003 at Oak Leaf Village. She
was a registered nurse and a member of Ligonier United Methodist Church and
Perry Twp Home Extension Club. She was born in Noble County Aug. 1, 1909
to Albert and Emma (Schlotterback) Deardorff. She married John W. Todd May
8, 1934 in Plymouth. He died Dec. 24, 1990. Surviving are a son and
daughter-in-law, Channing and Dianne Todd of Union, Mich.; 2 grandchildren, John
M. Todd and Lucia McLaughlin; 3 great-grandchildren, John and Claire McLaughlin
and Evan Todd. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Fredonna Dibler.

Todd Orval, 52, was found dead along the B&O tracks Thursday. He is survived by a wife and 6 children who reside in Sunnyside,
Washington. His mother, Mrs. Malissa Howenstine, died about one month ago. Since
that time he had been staying about town, sleeping in box cars and other places
of shelter. It is believed death resulted from a fractured skull sustained when
he fell from the door of a box car in which he had been sleeping. Funeral was
held from the Bonham Funeral Home Saturday. The son of Stillman and Melissa
Todd, he was born in 1883 and died July 19, 1934. One brother, Clyde, preceded

Todd Oswald Gordon, 88, died July 16 in Parkview Hospital. A former
Garrett resident, he retired in 1961 after 35 years on the B&O Railroad. He
was assistant division engineer in Garrett. Born in Ottawa, Canada, he was a WW
I Canadian Army veteran. His wife, Mary, preceded him in death in 1984.
Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Jeanne) Gause, Huntertown; one son, Bill
of Melville, N.Y.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services July 18 at Highland Bethel Evangelical Mennonite Church, Fort Wayne.

Todd Roland G, 83, 201 College St., Ligonier, died Saturday
in Bluffton Clinic. He was born Dec. 9, 1892 in LaGrange County to Harvey D. and
Letha E. (Lung) Todd. He married Katie McElroy Rider in Nov. 1933. He was a
lifetime area resident, a retired farmer and former owner of Todd’s Café,
Ligonier. He was a member of Ligonier Elks and Ligonier Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Letha) Rupright, Ossian; 2
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral in Werker-Orr Funeral

was a 1949 graduate of Kendallville High School, born June 18, 1931 in

Kendallville Manor Health Care Center. He lived at R. 3, Albion and was a truck

Tomlinson John, 59, R. 1, Rome City, was pronounced dead on arrival at
McCray Hospital. He may have suffered a heart attack that led to a single
vehicle crash west of Rome City Wednesday night. His car went off the road on CR
150E just north of CR 1000N, hit an embankment and caught fire. Born Aug. 10,
1923 in Grant County, he was the son of Wesley and Amy (Helms) Tomlinson. On May
1, 1946 he married Martha Wilkins. He moved from Churubusco to Rome City in
1977. A Navy WW II veteran, he had worked at Dana Corp and Bomar in Fort Wayne,
and at A-1 Production, Kendallville, since 1976. He was a member of Rome City
Baptist Church and American Legion Post 86, Kendallville. Surviving are his wife
and parents; 4 sons, Stephen of Churubusco, John and James of Fort Wayne, and
David of Rome City; 2 sisters, Celia Miller of Fort Wayne, and Jane Suter of
Onalaska, Wis.; 3 brothers, Ed of Churubusco, James of Fort Wayne, and Wesley
Jr. of Huntington; and 2 grandchildren. Services at Merriam Christian

Tomlinson Julia Ann, 92, one of the very first settlers in the
territory of Noble County, died at the county asylum on Monday, September 14,
1891. She was a daughter of Leonard Danner, who, Mr. Prentiss says, entered the
second tract of land entered in the county. It is now owned by George Growcock
and is in Section 18, Perry Township. Mrs. Tomlinson has been a resident of the
county for sixty years. She was for many years an inmate of the county asylum

Tompkins Nora C, 82, native of DeKalb County, of R. 1, LaOtto, died Sunday
in McCray Hospital. Funeral was Wednesday at A.J. Berhalter Co.

home with a daughter, Mrs. Robert Keck, of near LaOtto, since the death of her
husband, John Tompkins, a year ago. Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins had resided in
Kendallville for about 15 years. She was born April 6, 1875, in DeKalb County,
the daughter of William and Caroline Loutzenhiser. She and Mr. Tompkins were
married April 3. Other survivors include two grandchildren and an uncle, Edward

Tomshock Lewis, 92, of Swan Twp, died at his home Dec. 24
from pneumonia. He immigrated to America from Poland and settled in Noble County
in 1895. He is survived by the widow and 2 daughters; one sister, Mrs. Regina

11, at McCray Hospital. She had been a resident of Kendallville for the past two

She was born May 6, 1891, the daughter of Simon and Mary Elizabeth (Wideman)
Johnson. She married Reuben Tonkin on Jan. 1, 1942. He preceded her in death.

in Goshen General Hospital. He was born August 19, 1921 in Somerville,

Francis Whalen on August 19, 1946 in West Newton, Mass. Surviving are his

Topolewski Richard H, 67, of near Avilla, died at his residence
Sunday. He was born October 28, 1928 in Chicago to Bruno and Stephanie (Stahulak)
Topolewski. On December 30, 1988 in Chicago he married
Marilynne Tobias. He had lived in the Avilla community more than 5
years. He was a retired maintenance man for Joseph T. Ryerson & Sons
of Chicago; a WW II U. S. Army veteran and a member of the Quarter Century
Club. Surviving are his mother in Three Rivers, Mich.; his wife; a son,
Richard H. Jr. of Bolingbrook, Ill.; 4 stepdaughters, Carolynn McComb, Kristine
Laughlin and Cheryl Potter of Fort Wayne and April Anderson of Avilla; a

Toschlog Bradley, 22, Rome City, died Monday in the
emergency room of Goshen Hospital from an apparent heart attack. He was born
Jan. 26, 1956 in Winchester. He had resided the past few years in Rome City and
was employed at Starcraft in Goshen. Survivors are his parents, Mrs. Robert
Sloan, Winchester; his father, Edward, Bryant; one sister; one brother; one

Toth Michael E, 84, died Oct. 18 in Sacred Heart Home. He
was born in South Bend on Jan. 21, 1911 to Mr. and Mrs. Alex Toth. He moved to
this area in 1960 and was a groundskeeper at Sacred Heart Home, Avilla. A sister
preceded him in death. His only survivor is a niece. Funeral in the Sacred

Tousley Hiram S was born in Jefferson County, N.Y., Nov. 20, 1821 and had
therefore entered the 62nd year of this life. The early part of his
life was spent upon the farm and in the blacksmith shop assisting his father,
the first 15 years at his native home, then 7 years in Shelby County, Ohio, and
then some 2 years in Whitley County, Ind. In 1863 the people of this county
conferred on him the office of clerk of the Circuit Court which he held until
Feb. 1867 when he was appointed judge of the 14th judicial circuit
composed of the counties of DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble and Steuben. During the last
few years he went to Tennessee to spend the winter with his daughter, Mrs.
Frances Matson. On their return they stopped to visit with the other only child,
Mrs. Ella Woods. While there he died. ^ 4-5-1883
Tousley Homer Edwin, 71, died January 15, 1954, in Pennsylvania.
Death was due to pneumonia. He was born January 28, 1882, the son of Viola Jones
and Eleazer Tousley. He lived near Swan for years. Mrs. Bessie
Kugler, who died October 21, 1953, was a sister of the deceased.
Surviving relatives are a wife, Pearl; two nephews, R. W. Kugler of Angola, and
Walter Kugler of Garrett; and a niece, Mrs. Flossie Hindee of Garrett. Services
were held January 13, 1954 in East Stroudsburg, Pa., with burial in Prospect

Tousley Phydema (Keys), one of the earliest settlers of Noble County,
died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. J. Barber, on E. Mott St., Oct. 12 at
the age of 79 years 7 months and 9 days. She came to the United States from
Canada when a child and at the age of 17 was married to David Tousley. They
commenced keeping house on a farm in Swan Twp that Mr. Tousley had taken up from
the government several years before. Her husband preceded her in death 26 years ago. Early in life she united with the Methodist Church. She was
the mother of 6 children, 2 of whom preceded her in death - the oldest and
youngest, both daughters. She leaves 4 children, Mrs. M. J. Barber of
Kendallville, C. S. Tousley of Elkhart, Ed Tousley on the homestead farm, and
Mrs. Lucy E. Wilson of Neodesha, Kansas; 15 grandchildren and 2
great-grandchildren. Funeral at the home where she died on Oct. 14. Burial,

Townsend Russell H, 73, died Sunday in Goshen Hospital. He had
lived in Upland until 1975 when he moved to R. 1, Rome City. He retired in 1983
as a farmer and businessman. He was a veteran of WW II and a member of Rigdon
United Methodist Church, Matthews Masonic Lodge and OES. Surviving are his wife,
Pauline, whom he married in 1946; 2 daughters, Janine Michael of Marion, and Pam
Miller of Rome City; a son, J. William of Memphis, Tenn.; 2 sisters, Lydia Payne
of Alexandria, and Gertrude Ferfong of Summitville; a brother, Jim of
Anderson; and 4 grandchildren. Services Wednesday in Jones Funeral Home,
