Milbourn Hugh, eldest son of Peter and Mary Milbourn, was born in Hancock
County, Ohio Sept. 10, 1850; died Feb. 28, 1891, aged 40 years, 5 months and 18
days. He moved to Wayne Twp with his parents on June 22, 1861. He
married Mary E. Walker of Michigan in 1877, whose death occurred in less than 10
months. He married Nancy J. Davis of Steuben County on March 5, 1879, living on
the old homestead until his death. He died of consumption, his father and his 3
sisters having succumbed to the same disease. He leaves a wife, one daughter, a mother and 2 brothers. ^ 3-6-1891

She was a graduate of Kendallville High School and had lived in Goshen since

Miles Harriet, 86, died Friday in Byron Health Center, Fort Wayne. She
was the mother of Mrs. Wanda (Norden) Bohnenberger and stepmother of Paul LaFevor,
both Avilla. She was born April 15, 1892 in Columbia City to Calvin and Emma
(Fisher) North. She married Ishue Miles Nov. 21, 1914 in Columbia City. He died
in 1937. She was a member of the United Brethren Church, Columbia City. Other
survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Fern) Denton, Sanford, Fla., and
Mrs. Glen (Rose) Burk, New Haven; two sons, William, Rocky Comfort, Mo., and

Hospital. Born Dec. 30, 1909 in Noble County, she was the daughter of Earl and

Milks Harold K "Heine" of Phoenix, Ariz., died in his
sleep Wednesday at his home. A graduate of Kendallville High School, he began
his newspaper career as a reporter on the Kendallville News-Sun in 1926. In 1929
he became a reporter for the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette. In 1934 he joined the
Associated Press, serving in Spain, Portugal, Russia, Indo-China and Cuba during
more than 30 years with AP. He joined the Arizona Republic as reporter in 1967
and was named managing editor in 1971, a post he held until 1978 when he became
Latin affairs editor. He was AP bureau chief in Havana, Cuba, when Fidel Castro

28, 1956. He was an electrical technician for ITT in Fort Wayne and had lived in
Huntertown since 1957. Surviving are his wife and his mother; a son, Dr. Jeff,

Miller Alice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel P. Eagles, and wife of
the late David P. Miller, died at her home in Chicago, where she has resided for
a number of years, on Aug. 1. She was born at Goshen, Ind., Nov. 14, 1855 and
married Mr. Miller in Albion while he was serving as deputy
sheriff for her father, the first sheriff to occupy the present Albion jail.
After leaving Albion, they moved to Chicago where he was a Pullman conductor
until his retirement age and they again returned to Albion and purchased a fine
suburban home to spend their declining days, and after the death of her husband
several years ago she again returned to Chicago to reside near her children,
Wrayburn E., Mrs. Arthur E. Morrison. She is also survived by three
grandchildren; three brothers, Edward P. and Chester M. of Albion, and Dr.

Wednesday. She was born April 16, 1909 in Steuben County, the

Aged and Invalid. She had been a resident of DeKalb County nearly all her life.

Miller Alvin Eugene, 69, died Friday in Lady of the Way Hospital, Martin,
Ky. He was born in Brimfield on April 14, 1928 to Wilbur "Pop"
and Ruth (Stewart) Miller. A retired farmer and factory worker, he moved
to Martin in July. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and a WW II Army
veteran. He married Maralene Diederich in Garrett on Oct. 24, 1953.
Surviving are his wife; 2 daughters, Mrs. Teddy (Tina) Collins of Martin, and
Mrs. Terry (Sara) Brown of Kendallville; a brother, O. Jay Miller of
Kendallville; 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two brothers,

Miller Andrew died at his home in Jefferson Twp a few miles from
Albion on June 25, 1885. He was an old resident of the county, a German by birth.
He was a market-gardener and furnished the people of Albion regularly

Miller Andrew, 98, died Tuesday in McCray Hospital. He was a
native of Ohio, born Aug. 2, 1869 to Mr. and Mrs. William Miller. In 1891 he
married Cora Harrold and they spent their entire married lives in the LaOtto
community, where he worked with threshing machines and with sawmill operators.
Mrs. Miller died in 1953. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Eva Keller of Fort
Wayne; a son, William of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren, 16
great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren. One daughter, two brothers
and three sisters preceded him in death. Final rites Wednesday in Sonday

Miller Andrew U died at his home in Ligonier June 17, 1919, aged 73 years and 4 days.
He was born in Millersburg, the son of Solomon Miller who “laid out”
the town and for whom it was named. He spent his early youth in the neighboring county and at the outbreak of the Civil
War he enlisted in Co. I., 74th Volunteer Infantry, Aug. 5, 1860.
He fought with General Buell, then General Rosencrans, and went with
Sherman on his march to the sea. He was wounded in the right hand at the battle of Jonesboro, Ga. and was excused
for a short time but soon resumed his position. He was mustered out June 23, 1865. On
Nov. 19, 1874 he became a resident of Noble County and was recognized as a
substantial farmer of this township. He was elected assessor in 1866 and again in 1890.
He was county treasurer from 1896 to 1901. He married Charity Showalter in Dec. 1867. She died 5 years ago. About
7 years ago he became a resident of Ligonier. He is survived by 2 sons and 3 daughters, Sol of Syracuse, Harry D. of
Spokane, Wash., Mrs. John W. Smith, Mrs. Myron A. Kirkland and Mrs. Skinner of Ligonier. Funeral

Cromwell on Dec. 1, 1892 to Alonzo and Clara (Smith) Miller. He was married Oct.
29, 1920 at St. Joseph, Mich., to Mildred Fitzpatrick, Cromwell. A lifetime
resident of Cromwell, he was a former custodian at the Cromwell school, a school
bus driver, and for the past several years had operated the popular restaurant
near Ligonier. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Cromwell. Survivors

Roofing Co. in Fort Wayne and was a member of Ideal Fish & Game Club.

past year, died Feb. 27, 1959 after suffering a heart
attack. He was a native of Kosciusko County and a former resident of Elkhart. He
moved to Kendallville a year ago from Jackson, Mich. He had also lived in
Livingston, Mont., where he had held membership in that city’s Masonic since
1914. He was a NYC Railway Co. blacksmith for many years, then followed his
trade in the automotive industry in Jackson. Survivors include one son in Texas;

apples at Frank Rink orchard from an apparent heart attack. Born in St. Joseph
County Dec. 18, 1912, he was the son of Don and Ethel (Judd) Miller. He had
lived at Dewart Lake 10 years, moving there from Lakeville. He married Elizabeth

Miller Carl John, 88, died Friday in Shepherd of the Hill nursing home,
Kendallville. He was born July 1, 1902 at Pleasant Lake, the son of
William Peter and Elsie Mae (Schimpff) Miller. On June 28, 1931 he married
Hazel Alberta Finney Gravatt. She died in 1972. He had worked for
the railroad and Auburn Sanitary Landfill and called square dancing at Buck Lake
Ranch. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Mabel M) Ellis of
Kendallville; a stepson; a brother, Orley of Bremen; 8 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Marzel, Russell and Merlin; a sister,

was born July 11, 1910 in West Unity, Ohio to Charles and Blanche (Hartzler)

1929 graduate of Topeka High School and retired in 1981 as Noble County
sanitation officer. He was a member of Ligonier Masonic Lodge 185 and Elks

in New York, N.Y. He died January 6, 1991. She lived in North
Bergen, N.J. until moving to Noble County in 1976. In North Bergen she was
employed in the meat department of the Shop Rite Grocery for 6 years. She
was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ege. Surviving
are 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Grace Sanders of Port Richey, Fla., Kathy and
Ed Tipton of Churubusco, and Barbara and Robert Huff of Denver, Colo.; 6

residence in Wabash. Born April 18, 1923 in Roann, he was the son of Isaac and
Zella (Reed) Miller. A veteran of WW II, he was a plasterer and brick mason. He

Miller Charles Ellis, 83, son of Emanuel and Catherine (Spangle) Miller,
was born in York Twp, in Aug. 1864, and died at the
home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry B. Fuller in Elkhart Jan. 2, 1948. On April 26,
1891 he married Harriet Rosella Stults at Wolf Lake. She died Jan. 3, 1939 at
Brimfield. His early married life was spent in and around Wolf Lake where he
taught in the public schools for 6 years, and he and Mrs. Miller kept the post
office for 15 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. After leaving Wolf
Lake he engaged in farming near Brimfield, Ind. until the death of his wife,
when he went to live with his daughter in Elkhart. Surviving is the daughter,
Ilo and husband; one granddaughter, Thella; and one great-grandson; two

and Nellie (Priest) Madden. Her first husband, Leon C. Walter, died in
1946. She married David C. Miller on March 8, 1952 in Angola and he

1964 in Brimfield, he married Phyllis Brown. He had lived most of his life in
Noble County, was a truck driver for Kidd & Co., Ligonier, and a member of

County, in 1947. On June 26, 1932 he married Mabel E. Sarnow in Goshen.

Wednesday in Greencroft Nursing Center, Goshen. He was born Jan. 8, 1902 in Reno
County, Kan., the son of Jacob P. and Anna (Bontrager) Miller. On Sept. 16, 1921
in Kansas he married Ida Troyer. He moved to Topeka in 1943 from Hutchinson,
Kan., and was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite

Gingerich of Ligonier, Mrs. Omer (Dora) Troyer of Goshen, and Mrs. Ralph (Anna

He was a delivery driver for UPS for 17 years and a member of Stone's Hill

Miller David K Jr., staff sergeant, was killed in action on Jan. 4 this year.
The final word came to Mr. and Mrs. David K. Miller of Wawaka through the
International Red Cross from the German government. He had completed his 17th mission as bombardier over enemy territory and it is thought he was lost in the

his residence. Born in Nappanee Feb. 26, 1942, he was the son of Valentine and
Lizzie Ann (Christner) Miller. On Feb. 10, 1968 in Howe, he married Frances
Ruthann Lock. He had moved to this area 12 years ago from Fort Wayne. He had
also lived in Ontario and was a civil engineer for the Indiana Highway Dept. He
was a Cub Scoutmaster in Wolcottville three years and Little League baseball
coach two years. He was a member of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church,
Indiana State Engineering Association, Alpha Omega Tau, Indiana Institute of
Technology, National Society of Professional Engineers, Moose Lodge of LaGrange,
and American Legion of Fort Wayne. He was an Army veteran and graduated in 1974
with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. Surviving are his wife;
his mother in Goshen; a daughter, Brenda Kay, and a son, David Allen at home;
two sisters, Goldie Yoder of Millersburg and Sarah Roth of Sarasota, Fla.; his
twin brother, Arthur L. of Baton Rouge, La.; and two other brothers, Verlin L.

Miller David P was born in Lancaster County, Pa., May 10, 1853, and was
the last surviving member of a family of ten brothers and sisters. He came to
Indiana when six years old onto a farm about three miles south of Topeka. On
Sept. 23, 1878 he married Alice Eagles. There are two children, Clara E.
Morrison, and Wrayburn E. Miller. At the time of his marriage he was deputy
sheriff under Nathaniel P. Eagles. In 1901 he entered the Pullman service from
which he was retired in 1927. Since that time he has made his home at "Wildacre"

Miller Donald E "Red", 80, died Dec. 3, 2000 at Kendallville
Manor. He was born Aug. 31, 1920 in Kendallville to Harvey and Clara
(Kline) Miller. His father died that year and he was raised by a
stepfather, Oscar D. Miller, who died Feb. 15, 1975. His mother died Jan.
14, 1983. A U.S. Navy veteran, he retired from American Hoist &
Derrick of Fort Wayne and was previously employed by Kendallville's Flint &
Walling. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kendallville and
American Legion Post 86. On Aug. 30, 1939 he married Becky A. Jaquay. She died Oct. 12, 1983. On March 15, 1997 he married Mary K.
Young. Surviving are his wife; 6 sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and
Linda Miller, Larry and Cathy Young and Michael and Pat Young of Kendallville,
Rex and Janet Miller of Huntertown, Clyde and Sheri Miller of Auburn and John

born in Noble County March 7, 1910, the daughter of Frank and Ida (Curtis) Dazey. On June 30, 1934 in Wolf Lake she married Prentiss Albert
Miller. He died Jan. 22, 1987. She was a cook at Wolf Lake School
and a member of Wolf Lake Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Frank of

Valparaiso Hospital. Born Aug. 12, 1907, he was the son of Emory and Pearl
(Parr) Miller. He was raised in Kendallville and was retired from Cooper-Jarrett
as a truck driver. Survivors are his wife, Delora; 3 daughters; 4 sons; a
brother, Donald of Auburn; and 7 grandchildren. A sister, Mabel Boyer; and a

Miller Drusilla, wife of J. G. Miller of Wawaka, daughter of Luther
G. Cook of Cameron, Mo., was born in Perry Twp Dec. 22, 1861, and
died at the residence of her father-in-law in Wawaka Feb. 12. She was married to
J. G. Miller Dec. 24, 1884. In April last they went west, locating in
Cherryvale, Kansas. Her health was still failing and they came back to Indiana.
She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Funeral in the M. E.

Oct. 24, 1891 and has lived in this area since he was 8 years old. His wife died
Dec. 24, 1965. A retired farmer and a member of Mitchell St. United Methodist
Church, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William Davey, W. Williams St.; two
sons, Vogal E., LaGrange, and Warren J., Kendallville; a brother, Marvin A.,
Bradenton, Fla.; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 3

Miller Eldon S, 82, of Ligonier, died Monday in Goshen Hospital. Born June 21, 1903 in New Paris, he was the son of William
and Dora (Young) Miller. On Oct. 16, 1924 he married Blossom Miller, who died in
1981. A 53-year Ligonier area resident, he was a retired Metropolitan Life
Insurance agent. He was a member of the Ligonier Presbyterian Church, F & A
M Lodge, 185, Fort Wayne Mizpah Shrine Temple, Valley Scottish Rite, Noble
County Shrine Club and Ligonier Elks. Surviving are 3 daughters, Bonnie Sheley

Miller Eliza (Browand) was born in Erie County, Pa., Feb. 15, 1836, died
in Kendallville, Sept. 16, 1883. She was 47 years 7 months
and one day old. She came to Fort Wayne, Ind. in the spring of 1845 with her
parents where she lived until the summer of 1856 when she came to Kendallville
to visit her sister, Mrs. M. M. Bowen, and while there was married to Reuben
Miller on Dec. 25, 1856. She had four children, Katie, William B., Mason M. and
George W., who all survive her. Her husband died Oct. 17, 1879. Her parents
moved near Kendallville in the fall of 1862. Her father died May 3, 1883 at the
age of eighty-one. She was not able to attend his funeral. She has been sick
over one year with consumption. She leaves her four children, a mother, one sister, and eight brothers. + 9-16-1883 ^ 9-21-1883
Miller Elizabeth died at Lisbon Feb. 23, aged 73 years, 8 months
and 29 days. She was born near Toronto, Canada May 24, 1811; subsequently
moved to Ohio where she was married to C. P. Smith, raising a family of 8
children, 6 of whom are still living. She with the family moved to Indiana in
1857 and was left a widow in 1859. In 1860 she married John Miller, who died in
1881. She was the mother of C. C. Smith and Mrs. Menzo Graham and died at the

School as a secretary, Dr. Quentin Stultz and Sroufe Mfg. in
Ligonier. She was born June 17, 1910 in Ligonier to Archie E. and Cora (Seager)
Snyder. She married Walter Kitson in Nappanee on Jan. 10, 1932. He
died in 1942. She married Robert B. Miller on Feb. 12, 1964 in
Ligonier. He died in 1977. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law,

married her second husband, Floyd L. Miller, on August 30, 1974, in Kendallville
and he died September 4, 2010. She worked for the Tokheim Corporation in
Albion for several years, retiring in 1992. She attended the Faith

Yarde. She was a graduate of Fort Wayne Business College and worked for
Kruger's Market 1961-1979. She married Charles H. Miller on May 11, 1941
in Garrett. He died March 13, 1998. She was a member of the First
Baptist Church in Garrett and later the Brighton Chapel in Howe. Surviving

Feb. 6, 1907 in Kendallville to Bruce K. Miller, who died in 1957. She moved
from Gary to Pentwater three years ago. She was a member of the First Methodist

Industries in Goshen for 20 years. He was a bass tournament fisherman. Surviving

Miller Francis (Dingman) was born April 24, 1855 in York Twp. She died Jan. 21, 1929 at her home in Albion. She was
one of nine children - five girls and four boys, all of whom had preceded her in
death. She married S. J. Miller Sept. 22, 1875. They had one son, Harry
of Albion. With the exception of a short period which was
spent in Whitley County, her entire life was lived in Noble County. Besides her
husband, she is survived by the son, two grandchildren, a number of nieces and

Elkhart General Hospital after suffering a massive heart attack while working at

Miller Fred C, 84, Kendallville, died Tuesday in McCray Hospital. The son of Charles and Sarah (Huffer) Miller, he was
born Aug. 26, 1889. He married Clara Tielker in Fort Wayne March 2, 1912. He was
a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 276, Scottish Rite,
Fort Wayne, and a 20 Year Club member at McCray Refrigeration Co., where he had
been employed as an accountant for 35 years. Surviving are his wife; two

hay while driving the horses for her father and brothers at her home Monday

Miller Frieda L, 71, of Ligonier and formerly of Topeka, died in Provena Sacred Heart
nursing home in Avilla February 15, 2011. She was born on May 12, 1939, to Levi and Susanna (Schrock) Christner in LaGrange
County. In June of 1975, she married Mike Miller. He died in 1993.
She was a member of Wawasee Church of the Nazarene. Prior to retirement, she worked for several years at Pent Assembly in
Rome City. Surviving are her daughter, Michelle (Jeff) Beaver of Ligonier; her stepdaughter; five
grandchildren, Chase, Colton, Trey, Raegan and Caden; and her twin brother,
Freeman (Pam) Christner of Virginia; and two sisters, Juanita Mast of Rome City
and Anna (Bill) Mosley of Kendallville. She was preceded in death by one brother, Mervin Christner.

Miller Geneva Irene, 96, died Wednesday at McCray Hospital,
Kendallville. She was born in DeKalb County on Jan. 7, 1901 to Edward and
Mary Ella (Casey) Davidson. On May 15, 1920 in Coldwater, Mich., she
married Guy Newton Miller. He died March 26, 1991. She and her
husband were co-owners of Kendallville Bottling Co. 1931-59. She was a
member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sigma Beta Sorority and Lady
Elks. Surviving are 2 daughters, Marilyn Sibert and Mrs. James (Shirley)
Fraze of Kendallville; a sister, Amber Miller of LaGrange; 4 grandchildren; 9

Miller George W, 73, was found Sunday along side the Pennsylvania
Railroad tracks a mile east of Hadley crossing at LaOtto. He had been visiting
in Fort Wayne and left for the home of his son, Rolland, at LaOtto, where he
resided. His only injuries were a fractured skull, and the cause of his death is
only conjecture. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Eliza Banks, Miss Vida

Miller George W, about 87, a retired farmer and lifelong resident of the
Cromwell community, died Jan. 28 at Whitley County Hospital. He was born in
Sparta Twp to Francis and Christina (Weade) Miller on Sept.
17, 1866. A lifelong resident of Noble County, he spent his farming career on
the farm belonging to his father and which he purchased. He married Mary Izora Winebrenner on Nov. 11, 1887, and

Miller Gerald L “Dink”, 75, of Albion, died Jan. 6, 2012 at North
Ridge Village in Albion. He was born March 7, 1936, in Kendallville to Ura
C. and Doris (Crusen) Miller. On June 5, 1959, he married Sue Ann Goodrich
at the Ligonier Methodist Church. He served in the U. S. Army from 1954-1958. He
worked for the City of Ligonier and for Monsanto in maintenance. He was a former
Ligonier City councilman, a Ligonier volunteer fireman for 33 years, and a
member of the American Legion, the Elks and the Red Knights Motorcycle
Club. He is survived by his wife; his children, Mike (Jeana) Miller of
Kendallville, Mark (Kim) Miller of Marion, and Casey (John Martin) Miller of
Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Megan (Mike) O’Neill and Brant (Lindsay Bledsoe)
Miller; one great-grandchild, Jillian O’Neill; one brother, Jerry (Jill)
Miller of Lake Whitney, Texas; 2 sisters, Dorothy (Mike) Stier and Carol (Joe)

Southern Michigan Janitorial Service and was a member of the First Church of

Home. Born Feb. 22, 1890 in Dublin, Ireland, she was the daughter of John Earl
and Lucy Elizabeth (Bowman) Oram. She married John Fair Miller April 9, 1926. A
resident of Ashley for the past 45 years, she was a registered nurse and worked
in hospitals in Kendallville, Garrett, Auburn, DeKalb and Angola. Surviving are

Miller Glenn W, 74, of Mission, Texas, and formerly of the Albion and
Churubusco area, died Oct. 23 in Mission Hospital, Mission, Texas,
from injuries received in an auto accident. Born Feb. 12, 1913 in Falls City,
Neb., he was the son of Fred and Sarah (Bertram) Miller. On Oct. 26, 1940 in
Michigan, he married Alice Freck. He moved from Albion to Texas 3 years ago. He
was a tool and die maker, retiring in 1972 from Dana Corp. He was a member of
our Savior Lutheran Church, McAllen, Texas. Surviving are his wife; a daughter,
Mrs. Robert (Janet) McGuire, Albion; three sons, Alan of Fort Wayne, Dennis of
Churubusco, and Dean of Fort Wayne; three brothers, Walter, Laferia, Texas,
Carl, Royal Oak, Mich., and Vernal, Mission; and 11 grandchildren. Two brothers

Fort Wayne. He was born Oct. 13, 1908 in New York City, the son of Gustave

driver and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ege.

Kendallville. He was born in Fort Wayne on December 29, 1925 to Harold and
Laura (Pettit) Miller. He married Rosemary Hanks on October 11, 1947 in
Fort Wayne. She died March 2, 1958. He married Patricia Louise
Connett on Mary 5, 1962 and she died September 3, 2003. Surviving are 3

Ohio. He was en route to Long Island, N.Y. at the time of the accident on U. S.

Greencroft Health Care Facility in Goshen. He had retired from Silgan
Plastics after 31 years of service and was a self-employed carpenter. He
was a member of Ligonier Church of Christ. He was born Nov. 23, 1927 in
Kimmell to Calvin and Bessie (Hamman) Miller. He married Barbara Doebler
on March 28, 1981. Surviving are his wife; 2 sons and daughters-in-law,
Bob and Jennene of Kansas and Calvin "Phil" and Ellen of Texas; 2
daughters and a son-in-law, Mary and Ed Herron of Hampton, Va., and Vicki Curtis

May 7 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. U. S. Pfaff in Kendallville, where she

Miller Harry H, about 69, (b. 9-22-1879) was found
dead in the entrance to Dr. John W. Morr’s office Nov. 9, 1948,
presumably of apoplexy. He apparently became ill during the night and found his
way from his home, the first door north of Dr. Morr’s office to the porch and
rang the bell which aroused Mr. and Mrs. John Gersee, who live in the same
building. By the time they had partially dressed and opened the door, Mr. Miller
was dead. He is survived by his widow; two sons by a former marriage, Paul of

Goshen Hospital. She was the daughter of Charles and Etta (Newberry) Johnson.

Retirement Center. She was the founder and owner of the former Cinderella
Dress Shop in Kendallville. A 1930 graduate of Kendallville High School,
she had been a member of Trinity Church United Methodist and Tri Kappa.
She was born May 3, 1911 in Kendallville to Carl C. and Imo Jewell (Reed)
Cochran. She married Hubert A. Miller on June 7, 1936 in
Kendallville. He died in 1982. Surviving are daughter and
son-in-law, Elizabeth and Dr. John Lipson of Columbus; a son and
daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Sally Miller of Levering, Mich.; 3 grandchildren
and their spouses, Christine and Paul Lipson-Rapinz of Boulder, Colo., Carol and
Todd Fausnaught of Williamsport, Pa., and Robert and Tracey Miller of Mich.; and
5 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, George

Miller Howard C, 77, a painter and retired farmer, died
Tuesday at McCray Hospital. He was born May 5, 1885, in Peoria, Ill., a son of
Samuel and Mina Guthrie Miller, and moved to the Avilla area 20 years ago from
Monroeville. Surviving are the widow, Ruth, to whom he was married Jan. 24,
1912, at Monroeville; five sons, Clarence, Blue Lake, Samuel, Churubusco,
Wilbur, Avilla, Max, LaOtto, and Bill, Fort Wayne; three daughters, Mrs. Esther
Pettit, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Donnabelle Peters and Mrs. Jane Tremaine, Avilla;
16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Flora Collier,

Miller Howard W, 79, Kendallville, formerly of Avilla, died
Oct. 23 in McCray Hospital emergency room. He was born July 25, 1917 in Noble
County to William and Wilma (Klinger) Miller. On March 26, 1934 he married
Rosetta P. Weaver. Surviving are his wife; 2 daughters, Rosalyn DeHoff of North
Tarrytown, N.Y., and Patricia Davis of Rome City; 8 grandchildren, Kenneth,
Steve, Peter and Thomas DeHoff, Annette Nicolazzo, Debra Spencer, Kim Treesh and
Tammi Riecke; 16 great-grandchildren. One son, Ronnie, one daughter, Janet
Marie, one grandchild and 2 great-grandchildren preceded him in death,. He
retired in 1982 as a general foreman for ITT. He was a member of American Legion
Post, Avilla, Avilla Lodge 460 F&AM, Noble Chapter 122 OES, Noble County
Scottish Rite, Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne, and attended Calvary United

Miller Hubert A, 69, of 604 Wakefield Village Blvd., died
Wednesday at Bartholomew County Hospital in Columbus. Born in Kendallville Aug.
4, 1912, he was the son of Robert C. and Olive (Bolton) Miller. He married Helen
M. Cochran on June 7, 1936 in Kendallville. A lifetime resident of Kendallville,
he retired as assistant postmaster in 1972. He was a graduate of Tri-State
university and was active in Trinity Church United Methodist and a member of
First United Methodist Church in Bradenton, Fla. He was pianist for Kendallville
Rotary Club. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Lipson of
Columbus; a son, Robert C. of Sterling Heights, Mich.; and 4 grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert. Services Sunday at Trinity

December 19, 1994. She worked at DeKalb High School cafeteria for 13

born in 1887 in Topeka to Abraham and Elizabeth Lantz Coppes. She and her
husband came to Albion from Topeka in 1929 where he established his plumbing
business. They had been married in 1908 in Topeka. He died in 1972. Her
daughter, Mrs. Paul Prickett (Mary Elizabeth) survives. A brother and sister

Miller Jacob C, 80, a citizen of this city, died at his home on
Mott St. Wednesday from a complication of diseases. Funeral was held

in Coshocton County, Ohio Aug. 31, 1823; died in Kendallville March 16, 1904,
aged 80 years 6 months and 15 days. He married Rosina Baad on Aug. 9, 1846. No
children were born to them. In the fall of 1850 they with other relatives moved
to Noble County where they were among the early settlers of Allen Twp. Here he
lived on a farm for about 30 years and then some 22 years ago he removed to
Kendallville. He united with the Evangelical Association in 1851. He leaves 3

and died Feb. 1, 1926, having lived in Clinton Twp all his life. He was aged 68
years, 9 months and 5 days. He died at his home near Millersburg of heart
trouble. He was the son of William C. and Catherine Beckner Miller and the
youngest of their family of 7 children. By his father’s second marriage he had
four half-brothers, two half-sisters and a stepsister. He was married to Mary E.
Swinehart on Feb. 1, 1880. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. J. M.
Kurtz, and Mrs. E. W. Phillips; one grandson, Frank Kurtz; two sisters, Mrs.
James Burns of Crescent, Okla., and Mrs. Margaret Neifer, Brimfield; three
half-brothers, Abraham, Andrew, and William H.; 2 half-sisters, Mrs. Frank Parks
and Mrs. Jacob Hoffman, Brimfield; and one stepsister, Mrs. Mahala Horn. He was

Miller James G was born in Cumberland County, Penn. Nov. 30, 1818. When
he was 2 his father moved to Baltimore, Md., his mother having died a few weeks
previous. He resided in Baltimore until 16 and then removed to Newville, Pa.,
where he worked on a farm for 18 months and then engaged in an apprentice in a
shoe store. He married Sarah Geese May 21, 1840. Upon completing his trade he
started a shoe store at Brownsburg, Pa. After a residence of several years at
Bellville, O., he removed to a farm purchased near Albion in 1863 and for 31
years he resided in Noble County. He was a member of the M. E. Church. His companion, one daughter and ten grandchildren survive. Funeral at Wayne

Miller James O, 62, R. 2, Howe, former Avilla resident, died at his home
Tuesday. A farmer and greenhouse operator, he was born in Bluffton and
later resided in Fort Wayne and Avilla. He moved to Howe seven years ago. He was
married on Aug. 27, 1922, in Fort Wayne to his wife, Marie, who survives. Other
survivors include one son, James O. Jr., R. 2, Avilla; three brothers, Ervin of
Lacy, Mich., Lester J. and Jake E., both of Fort Wayne; and three grandchildren.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Avilla where services will be held

Miller James S, 72, lifelong resident of Noble County and for thirty
years a rural carrier from Avilla, died at his home there last Thursday from
heart trouble. He retired from the mail service 7 years ago. He was born in Swan
Twp Jan. 31, 1868, where he grew to manhood. On Sept. 27, 1893 he married Mary S. Rhodes.

Miller James Vernon, 72, of Waterloo and Mission, Texas, died in Mission
Oct. 25. He had suffered a heart attack last summer. He was born in Middlebury
Oct. 28, 1916. In 1942 he married Evelyn L. Morgan. He had lived in Kendallville
17 years, moving to Waterloo in 1969. He had been employed by Conrail 43 years
and was a Conrail agent in Kendallville 17 years. He and his wife owned and
operated the Green Parrot Restaurant in Waterloo for 8 years. Surviving are a

was born in Kendallville on March 21, 1960, to Richard L. and Marilyn J.

1979 and she married Michael U. Miller on September 10, 1988. Jeana was a part of the family business,
Hulen’s Landscaping, since they started in 1967. She also worked at Superior
Sample in Ligonier for a period of time when she was younger. Survivors include her husband, Michael Miller
of Kendallville; a son, Matthew Miller of Kendallville; her father; a sister, Tina and Mark Cain of Kendallville. She was preceded in death by her mother,

Miller John, 40, living just west of Leesburg, was found dead in his corn
field late Saturday. About noon he had gone to the field to husk corn
and took his shotgun with him. When his son returned home from school he went to
the field to see his father and found him lying near a gate with a gaping hole
in the left chest. He had evidently been dead for several hours. The supposition
is that he started to climb through the gate, poking his gun through first, when
the weapon was accidentally discharged. He is survived by a wife and three

Miller John D, 44, a farmer residing 2 ½ miles west of Leesburg, was
found lying against a gate in a lane half a mile from his home Saturday by his 16-year old son, Robert who, alarmed by his father’s long
absence, had gone in search of him. When he left his home at noon, he rode a
horse and said he was going to the field to husk corn. He took his shotgun with
him for the purpose of shooting wild geese, many of which are in that locality.
He had told his wife he expected to bring back a wild goose. Death was reported
as accidental. He was born 2 miles north of Millersburg and lived there during
his boyhood. He was the son of William C. Miller, deceased. Eight years ago he
moved to Kosciusko County. Surviving are his wife, two sons, one daughter, three
brothers, including Abraham of Goshen; two sisters, one half-brother and one

Miller John Ray, 60, former pastor at Elmwood Mennonite Church in
Kendallville, died Sunday at his home in Sarasota, Fla. He had served Grancost
and Cross Church in Toledo, Ohio before moving to the Kendallville church. A
native of Clarence Center, N.Y., he is survived by his wife, Darlene; two
daughters, Mrs. Ramona Potter, Battle Creek, Mich., and Dixie Redding, West
Lafayette; two sons, John of Portland, Ore., and James, Sturgis, Mich.; one
sister, Fannie Christner, LaGrange; and four brothers, Atlee, Edward and Joseph
of Goshen; and Ervin of Miss.; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Miller John W was born in Fairfield County, Ohio Dec. 25, 1815; died at
Goshen Ind. Dec. 16, aged 75 years, 11 months and 21 days. He was married to
Huldah Jones in 1834, by whom he was the father of 11 children, 10 of whom are
living. She having died in 1858, he was married to Elizabeth Rice who survives.
They had four children, all of whom are living. He united with the
Methodist Episcopal Church in early life and for many years was a preacher in
that connection. He united with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1862 and
continued till his death. The remains were brought to Kendallville for services

in Fort Wayne. He had been a carpenter and had retired as a custodian from

Kimmell United Methodist Church. He was born Nov. 8, 1925 in North Webster
to Roy and Estella (Correll) Miller. On May 3, 1952 in Burkett he married
Gilva Fausnaugh. She died in 2003. Surviving are 2 daughters, Billie

Miller Joseph H, 75, died Sunday in Bradley Memorial Hospital, Cleveland,
Tenn., while en route home from vacationing in Fla. He was born Dec. 27,
1914 in Etna Green, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Miller. He married Mary
Dickinson, who died in 1967. On May 24, 1969 in Ligonier he married Martha
(Albers) Dhonau. He was a retired truck driver for Travel-N-Comfort Mfg.
and had worked for Ligonier Park Dept. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and
member of Ligonier Presbyterian Church and West Noble American Legion.
Surviving are his wife and 2 stepchildren. Two brothers and one sister

Miller Josephine M Amones, 87, who had lived in the Wawaka-Albion area
for approximately 50 years, died Jan. 30, 1989 in a Lake Havasu, Ariz. nursing
home. Born in Ind., she had lived the last 13 years with her daughter, Anne
McNett in Glendale, Ariz. She was preceded in death by two husbands. Other
survivors are Mrs. JoAnn Knight Hammel of Albion, a granddaughter who was raised

Miller Katherine S, 89, former Ligonier resident, died Jan. 26 in
University Park Nursing Home in Fort Wayne. Born Jan. 6, 1889 to Jonathan and
Elizabeth Simmons, she lived most of her life in Ligonier, moving to Fort Wayne
about 15 years ago. She married Milo F. Miller, who preceded her in death.

Miller Kathryn A, 76, 309 Reservoir Place, died Nov. 23 in
Goshen Hospital. Born Sept. 9, 1902 in Noble County, she had lived in Goshen
since 1920, moving from Wawaka. She had been employed by a number of Goshen
businesses, including Kline’s, Harlan’s, Style Shop and Hobby Restaurant.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose, holding the office of Star Recorder.

Miller Keith William, 46, Ligonier, died
Wednesday in Goshen Hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was owner and
operator of Ligonier Rubber Co. and had lived here 7 years. He was a member of
All Saints Episcopal Chapel at Lake Wawasee, Elks Lodge and the American Legion.
He served with the U.S. Army in Korea 1953-1955. A native of Marietta, Ohio, he
was born July 30, 1929, the son of Harold and Eunice (Harris) Miller. He and
Frances Hiteshew were married April 18, 1953 in Parkersburg, W. Va. Surviving
are his wife; three sons, Talbott, Robert and Keith Andrew at home; one
daughter, Ann at home; and one sister, Mrs. Richard Ambler, Lafayette, La.

Miller Kent D, 19, a former student at Central Noble High School, was
killed Feb. 17, 1985 in a snowmobile accident in Wells County when his
snowmobile crashed into a creek bank near his home on Hoosier Highway. He had
returned to his home near Bluffton Saturday after a 2 ½ year hitch in the U. S.

Miller Laura, 81, 804 E. Diamond St., died Wednesday in
Colonial Crest Nursing Home, Fort Wayne. Born in North Salem Feb. 25, 1896, she
was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hayes. She married Carl A. Miller Dec.
27, 1931 in Indianapolis. He died May 24, 1955. She has been a Kendallville
resident since 1931, coming from Indianapolis. She was a member of the Christian
Science Society, the Tuesday Club, Tri Kappa and was active in the YMCA and
library. In 1973 she built the North Salem Park in North Salem. Survivors are a

She was born May 10, 1895, the daughter of Luther and Carrie (Wolf) Rex.

Pettit, born Jan. 29, 1907 in Fort Wayne. On March 21, 1925 she married Harold
H. Miller in Hillsdale, Mich. She had been a former resident of Fort Wayne and
had lived in Rome City since 1951. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran

Healthcare Center, Fort Wayne. She was born near South Bend Dec. 24, 1900, the
daughter of Charles and Carrie (Hawn) Carlin. On Aug. 28, 1918 in Angola who
married Russell Miller who died Nov. 5, 1983. She had lived in Stroh the past 15
years, moving from Fort Wayne. She was a member of the Stroh Church of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Lois) Strunk of Kendallville, and Mrs.
Ernest (Marilyn) Sauders of Fort Wayne; a son, Darrell of Fort Wayne; a sister,
Wiltrude Gill of LaGrange; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. One

Allen County, Monday. He was born Sept. 9, 1902 in Kendallville to
Roy and Maude L. Miller. He married Anita Murphy June 15, 1975 at the health

Phyllis Baney, South Bend. He was a lifetime Kendallville resident, employed in

Kraft, Inc., he had moved to Kendallville in 1930 from North Liberty. He was a
member of the Masonic Lodge, Noble Chapter OES, American Legion Post 86,
Kendallville, Indiana Holstein Breeders Association, Indiana Dairy Herd
Improvement Association, Noble County Fair Board, and Trinity Church United
Methodist. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Barbara of Kendallville,

in Millersburg, Ohio, after an extended illness. She was born in Avilla on March

Detroit, of a cerebral hemorrhage which she suffered January 1. She was born
July 16, 1880 in Auburn. At one time she was associated with Mrs. Minnie Pepple

Miller Martha was the daughter of John and Sarah Targgart, born near Wolf
Lake on Nov. 2, 1862. Surviving her are one sister, Mrs. Sophronia

Sherman, Amos and Edward. As a young woman she married James Miller, with whom
she lived more than 50 years until his death about two years ago. There is one
son, Frank, of Meno, Okla. She was a member of the Methodist Church at Wolf
Lake. On Nov. 25 at the close of Thanksgiving Day she slept away. She was 75

On July 24, 1954 in Cromwell she married Carlyle J. Miller. He died in
1978. A lifetime Cromwell resident, she worked for Essex Wire and United
Technologies before retirement. Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Ray
(Cindy) Hunt and Mrs. James (Amy) Lowe of Cromwell; a son, Kim of Ligonier; 3
sisters, Alice Feece of Lakeville, Lois Meyer of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Marvin
(Jean) Poyser of Columbia City; 2 brothers, Charles Leslie of Ligonier and Gary

Manor in Wakarusa. She was a member of the former Evangelical United
Brethren Church in Syracuse. She was born July 18, 1914 in Kendallville to

1940. He died May 20, 1991. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law,

granddaughter, Mrs. Richard S. Orton, Indianapolis. She was the widow of Dr.

Ohio, she spent the early years of her life in Steuben County, Ind. After the
death of her husband 20 years ago she went to Auburn to make her home and was
active in the Presbyterian Church and the GAR Auxiliary. Funeral will be this

Miller Matilda (Mateer) died at her home in Swan Twp on Friday. She was born in Allegheny County, Pa., March 20, 1842.
She was married to Archibald Miller of Beaver County, Pa. Sept. 30, 1863.
They had 5 sons and 2 daughters, all of whom are living. Mr. and Mrs. Miller came to Noble County in 1864 and purchased the farm
on which they both resided until called by death. She was a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church.
She died December 9, 1898 at the age of 56 years, 8 months 19 days. Funeral at Hopewell Church on Sunday.

Oct. 18, 1982. He was a retired plumbing and heating contractor in Jay County

of Mishawaka, Ind. and was a retired foundry worker for Dodge Mfg. In Mishawaka.
He was a veteran of WW I and a member of the Cromwell American Legion Post.

member of VFW Post 2749 and American Legion Post 86 in Kendallville. He
was born April 5, 1924 in Brimfield to Arnol Wilbur and Ruth Agnes (Stewart)
Miller. He married Marjorie Ann Probst on April 29, 1946 in
Kendallville. She died March 5, 2001. Surviving are a daughter and
son-in-law, Debra Kemerly and Jim Frye of Wolcottville; a son and

Goshen on June 1, 1935. He was a retired school teacher and a real estate
broker, a member of Ligonier Presbyterian Church, Elks and Masonic Lodge.

County to Otto and Minnie (Poscharscky) Miller. He was a lifetime
resident of the Cromwell area. He was married in Oct. 1959 in Germany to Inge
Gebhardt. He was a farmer and a member of the Broadway Christian Chapel.

residence. She was born Dec. 18, 1918 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Paul
and Alta (Hawk) Egolf. She was a 1936 graduate of Churubusco High School
and worked as a seamstress at Blue Bell in Columbia City until her marriage to
John H. Miller on June 26, 1940. She was a member of Blue River Church of

Miller Prentiss A, 79, Wolf Lake, died Thursday at his residence
after shoveling snow. He was born May 4, 1907 in Wolf Lake, the son of Albert
and Zoe (Redenbo) Miller. He had resided his entire life in the house where he
was born. He married Dortha Dazey June 30, 1934. He was engaged in farming and
was a member of the Wolf Lake Baptist Church and Modern Woodmen Lodge.

Hospital. He was born Dec. 2, 1918 in Ligonier to Milo and Katherine
(Simpson) Miller. He married M. Pauline Hitchell on July 29,1 945 in
Ligonier. She died March 12, 1991. He graduated from Ligonier High
School and served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II. He was retired from
Essex Wire. He attended the Church of Christ and was a member of AARP,
West Noble American Legion Post 23 and Elks Lodge 451. He is survived by a
brother, C.J. Miller of Fort Wayne; 3 sisters, Eloise Arnold of Butler,

LaOtto. He was born April 6, 1902 in St. Joe to Andrew and Sarah (Lung)

Hilda E. Gillian. She died April 20, 1992. A 1931 graduate of Purdue
University, he was a pharmacist at several locations, retiring in 1980 from
Chronister's Central Drugs. During WW II he did factory work, making B-17
engine components. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in

Center. Born in Steuben County May 16, 1904, he was the son of Henry W. and

Stout. He was a farmer and machinist and a member of Hudson United Methodist
Church. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Treva) Miller of Rome

Miller Raymond Joseph, 78, of Rome City, died Saturday at
his residence. He was born in Decatur Feb. 13, 1909, the son of Robert and Della
(Ullman) Miller. On March 8, 1940 in Fort Wayne, he married Marcell Grace
Kaiser. He moved from Dayton, Ohio to Rome City 10 years ago and was a retired
machinist. He was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church. Surviving are his
wife; two daughters, Mrs. Heiko (Susan) Kaiser of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Joseph
(Juli Ann) Ryne of Hindsdale, Ill.; a son, Stephen A. of St. Paul, Minn.; a

Miller Rebecca spent her whole life in Indiana, having been born in Union County
Jan. 20, 1823. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. F. Young, at Ligonier Jan. 27, 1892.
She came with her parents (Mr. and Mrs. Summy) to Elkhart Prairie in
1831. She married William L. Miller in 1841. He was a miller by trade
and lived at different places while he followed his trade.
About 1855 they moved on a farm near “Sugar Hill” in Benton Twp,
where on March 18, 1872 he was killed by a falling tree.
She was a member of the M. E. Church and the mother of 7 children, 6 of

Miller Richard K, 60, Syracuse, died Saturday in St. Mary’s
Hospital in Rochester, Minn. of heart condition following a heart attack on June
1. Born at Syracuse April 27, 1914, he was the son of Sol and Georgia (Ketring)
Miller. A resident of Syracuse most of his life, he married Roberta Jean Wills
in 1940. He was a bank teller at the State Bank of Syracuse and a member of the
St. Andrews Methodist Church, Syracuse. Surviving are the widow; one son, Tom of

Goshen General Hospital. He was owner of Miller’s Footwear Store in Ligonier
until his retirement and also managed Miller’s Footwear Store in Goshen prior
to moving to Ligonier in 1956. He was born March 31, 1920 in Goshen to Roy and
Jennie May (Bitner) Miller. In 1939 in Ky., he married Jeanne Miller, who died
in 1964. In 1967 he married Marie Kitson in Ligonier. He served in WW II and was
a member of Ligonier Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 243, VFW, Chamber
of Commerce, and a former member of Ligonier Rotary Club. Surviving are his

Miller Robert C, 86, died Friday in McCray Hospital. A
lifetime resident of Noble County, he was born in Swan Twp June 2, 1870, a son
of Archibald and Matilda Mateer Miller. He married Olive Bolton in Avilla on
April 19, 1904. He worked as a carpenter before entering the railway postal
service in 1933 and since had been active in his hobbies of woodworking and
carpentry. He was an official in the American Security Co. in Kendallville.
Surviving are the widow; a son, Hubert, Kendallville; a sister, Mrs. Anna
Truelove, Ft. Wayne; a brother, Joseph, Kendallville; and two grandchildren.

south of Kendallville on Ind. 3 Dec. 31. Born Dec. 19, 1953, he was

Miller Roe, about 80, died in St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 5, 1951. He was a
musician of outstanding ability and in his younger days had performed with
several of the better bands of the nation. His father, John W., at one time

Miller Ronald Eugene, 17, was fatally injured in an automobile crash
Tuesday. He had broken neck, severe chest injuries and a
broken arm. State police officers investigating said the car, driven by Ronnie,
was northbound on Wayne Trace near Fort Wayne when it went out of control on a
slight curve, plunged down a five-foot embankment and crashed into a utility
pole. The impact toppled (line missing) ished the car. Evidence indicated
the car had rolled over before it crashed into the pole. Ronnie would have been
a junior in the Avilla High School this fall. He was a member of the local
Evangelical United Brethren School. Survivors are the parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Texas, she was the daughter of George W. and Virginia (Easterday) Owen. On March
6, 1971 in Kendallville, she married Dave N. Miller. She moved to Kendallville
from Ill. and worked as secretary for CMW Transport Trucking Co., Kendallville.
She was a member of the First Christian Church. Surviving are her husband and

Miller Rosina (Baad) was born Aug. 6, 1827 in Steinheim, Wurttemberg,
Germany, and came to this country when 18. She married Jacob C. Miller Aug. 9,
1846. They moved with his people to Noble County just west of Lisbon on Sept.
28, 1850. In 1882 they left the farm and moved to Kendallville, where she died
March 10, 1897 at the age of 69 years 7 months and 4 days. She was a member of
the Evangelical Church for nearly 45 years, where funeral was held March 12.

Emma (Rickel) Snyder. She married Franklin Miller in 1911. He preceded her in

clerical jobs, including managing the license bureau. She was a member of

February 23, 1917 in Toledo, Ohio to Harry and Clora (Smith) Coss. She
married Carmon Miller on Oct. 30, 1938. He died March 25, 1996.

Sunday from heart disease at the home of a niece, Mrs. Bert Madden of
near Avilla. His wife, the former Fannie Dingman, died in 1929 while they
resided in Albion. Surviving are a son, Harry H., of Albion; two grandsons.

Miller Samuel R, 85, formerly of Churubusco, died Dec. 12, 2002 at his
home. He was employed by Fruehauf Trailer Co. in Fort Wayne for 31 years,
retiring in 1981. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He was born
near Monroeville on Aug. 26, 1917 to Howard C. and Ruth B. (Shaffer)
Miller. He married Beulah I. Fuqua on May 21, 1949 in Huntertown.
She died Nov. 18, 1998. He was also preceded in death by several brothers
and sisters. Surviving are a daughter, Tamara of Columbia City; a sister,
Jane Young of Kendallville; a brother, Bill of Orange, Calif. Private

Miller Sandra Lee, 62, of Kimmell, died Aug. 23, 2008 at her home.
She was employed at Weatherhead for 30 years, retiring March 31, 1999. She
was a member of Wolf Lake Baptist Church. She was born Dec. 3, 1945 in
Niles, Mich. to Harriet (Hargreaves) and Gerald Harrison George. On Sept.
23, 1974 she married Frank S. Miller. He died Jan. 19, 1993.
Surviving are 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Antonette and Jesse Rollins of
Cromwell and Melissa Stanley of Ligonier; 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Forrest

from inflammatory rheumatism. She was born in Findley, Hancock, County, Ohio
Nov. 22, 1864 and died at the home of her parents in Rome City Feb. 8, 1886,

Miller Sarah A was born at Franklin Square, Columbiana County, Ohio, June 25, 1838; and
died at her home August 1, 1921, age 83 years 1 month and 62 days.
She married Jacob Simon Oct. 2, 1856; and to this union were born 6
children, John A., Emily, Ella B., James N., Edith A. and Melissa.
Emily and her father preceded her in death. Eleven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren are left to grace the
family record. In middle life she married Coradon Warner, who also preceded her in death.

Miller Sarah G (Guise) was born in Cumberland County, Penn. in May 1810
and died Oct. 4. She was married to James G. Miller May 21, 1840. They resided
for several years at Bellville, O., coming from there to Noble County, Ind. in
1863. They were the parents of 10 children, 6 of whom were claimed by death in
infancy. One daughter, Mrs. Bell Whitford, died March 8, 1876. Her companion
preceded her to the better land about 18 months. There are left 2 sons, one
daughter and 11 grandchildren. She united with the M. E. Church in 1840. ^

Miller Simpson C was born in Seneca County, Ohio Oct. 1, 1842; died at
Chicago Nov. 4, 1909, aged 67 years, one month and four days. He moved with his
parents from the state of Ohio to Allen County, Indiana when he was 5 years of
age. He came to Kendallville in 1856 and returned to Ohio in 1861 and enlisted
at Fostoria at the first call for three months’ soldiers. He re-enlisted in
the 49th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in 1816 and served until the close
of the war. He was a prisoner in Libby prison for 10 months. Dec. 14, 1865 he
married Mary A. Zimmerman, and they had one daughter and 2 sons,
the daughter preceding him in death some years ago. Surviving are his wife and 2
sons, T B. of this city and Harry of Chicago; and one grandson, Frank Stall of
Texas; one brother, John W. of this city; and 6 sisters, Mrs. Mary Zimmerman of

time. He was born in Pendleton, County, Va. He moved to Ohio in 1826. Married

Ligonier who had 2 children, and to Miss Kingston, his widow who had one child.)
He was the father of 15 children, ten of whom are still living. His brother
Henry, who died 2 years ago, was the first postmaster in Noble County. Died July

Erdly. She died Sept. 9, 1985. A retired farmer, he also sold

near Orland. He was a former employee of Phelps Dodge in the INCA Division. He

Miller William B was born Sept. 23, 1859 in the city of Kendallville where he lived all his short life. He died Oct. 21, 1885. He was
only 26 years and 28 days old. He was married on the 15th day of
Jan., 1884 to Victoria Iddings, daughter of Lewis Iddings. They had a
boy, born on the 28th day of June 1885, so he leaves a young widow and this
little babe; also a sister older than himself and two brothers younger.
His father died on the 17th day of Oct. 1879, and his mother died
Sept. 16, 1883. One-half of the family has died in the last 6 years. His parents
left him well off financially so when he married he had a fine mansion all well
furnished to take his new bride to, and being a good financier still added to
his wealth instead of using it up as most men do that come by their property so
casually. His mother died with that dread disease, consumption, which he

Miller William C was born in Lancaster County, Pa., Jan. 29, 1823, and
was the third born of a family of six children. At the age of 7 years he moved
with his parents to Ohio and 17 years later removed to Clinton Twp. At the age
of 19 he was married to Catharine Beckner and they settled near his present
farm. He soon afterwards purchased his present farm which was heavily covered
with timber and he cleared it himself. They had 7 children,
5 of whom survive him. He was married to Elizabeth King March 25, 1860. They had
6 children, all of whom are living in the county. His wife survives
him. He died Aug. 28, 1895. Funeral services at the Dunkard Church. Burial,

Miller William Paul, 58, R. 2, Kendallville, died Jan. 9 at the home of
his daughter, Mrs. Jack Ferry, in North Hollywood, Calif., where he and Mrs.
Miller had been visiting the past three weeks. A retired farmer, he was born
July 28, 1910, at Syracuse, Ind., the son of William L. and Nora Miller. He is
survived by the widow, Thelma; the daughter, Joy Louise; one stepson, Robert
Smurr, R. 1, Avilla; two brothers, Russell, Gas City, Ind., and Arthur Eugene,
Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Darr and Mrs. Eleanor Blakesley, both of
Syracuse; and four grandchildren. Funeral services Tuesday in Hite Funeral

Miller William W, 75, was employed for 33 years by International
Harvester Co. before retiring in 1959. Final rites were Jan. 14 in the A. L.
Moore & Sons Mortuary in Phoenix, Ariz. Burial, Greenwood Cemetery. He died Jan.
11 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. Born in Noble Twp,
Noble County, he moved to Phoenix from Fort Wayne 7 years ago. Surviving are his
wife, Wilma; one son, Howard W., Fort Wayne; one daughter, Mrs. Leona Nims of
Phoenix; one sister, Mrs. Evie Keller of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Mrs. Pauline Troyer and Mrs. Dale McCoy. ~

Miller Wilma, 89, died February 19 in Phoenix. A former resident of
LaOtto, she was the widow of William Miller. Surviving are one son, Howard,

Miller Zella P, 86, was born in Avilla but had lived in Yoder most of her
life. She died Saturday in the Lutheran Hospital. She is survived
by a son, Warren, Santa Clara, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Greene,
Pioneer, Calif., and Mrs. Maxine Porter, Lexington, Ky.; two sisters, Mrs.
Carrie Truelove, Avilla, and Mrs. Golda Sabe, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; 11
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services Oct. 10 at Elzey Home

Miller Zena B, 87, Ligonier, died Nov. 9 in
Goshen Hospital. She was born Aug. 18, 1889 in LaGrange County to Henry and
Laura (Haverstock) Morrow. On Dec. 11, 1909, she married Harry Miller in
LaGrange. He died in 1940. She had lived in Ligonier the past 31 years.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Wade (Mary) Carpenter, Nashville, Mich.,
Mrs. Eugene (Juanita) Stahl, Goshen, Mrs. Max (Ila) Hill, Goshen; two sons,
Everett, LaGrange, and Harry Jr., North Webster; 15 grandchildren; and 25
great-grandchildren. A son, Wayne, preceded her in death. Funeral Friday in

Miller Zoe M, about 85, died Jan. 20, 1968 at Luckey
Nursing Home in Wolf Lake. She was born April 30, 1882 in a log cabin on the
farm where Don Edwards now lives, the daughter of Isaac and Susie Redenbo. She
was the oldest of three children, two brothers, Roe H. of Toledo, Ohio, and Ross
M. of Highland, Calif. She married Albert Miller Dec. 25, 1900. She moved to the
house where her son, Prentiss, now lives and later moved to her present home in
1934 in Wolf Lake. Surviving are her 3 children, Theodore of R. 1, Kimmell,
Prentiss of Wolf Lake, and Esther Bender of Albion; 7 grandchildren, Mrs.
Phyllis Ott of Churubusco, Mrs. Bonita Stump of Kimmell, Miss Irene Bender of
Albion, Mrs. Monna Fae Parks of Avilla, Mrs. Lecinda Kiesling of Peru, Frank
Miller and Mrs. Jean Leitch of Wolf Lake; 16 great-grandchildren. She was
postmistress of 28 ½ years, retiring April 30, 1952. She was one of two
postmasters in her district ever to retire with 100% rating on their record. She
was a longtime member of the Wolf Lake Baptist Church. Funeral Tuesday at

Millikan Charlene W, 42, of rural Churubusco, died July 26, 2002 at
Horseshoe Bay. She had been employed for the past 12 years at Deluxe Glass
of Fort Wayne. She was a 1978 graduate of Churubusco High School.
She was born Jan. 28, 1960 in Norwalk, Ohio to C. Duwayne and Nancy Lou (Harting)
Hauser. Her mother died Oct. 21, 1991. She married Richard J.
Millikan Jr. on Dec. 16, 1978 in Churubusco. Surviving are her father in
Churubusco; her husband; a son, Brad; a daughter, Lindsay; a twin sister and
brother-in-law, Darlene and Mike Foote of Churubusco; 2 brothers and a
sister-in-law, Cory and Darlene Hauser of Wolf Lake and Roger Hauser of Las
