Mazur Michael - A distressing accident occurred near Huckleberry
School House in Green Twp Monday as a result of which
Michael Mazur lost his life. He was half owner of a threshing outfit consisting
of a traction engine and separator and was starting out Monday morning to thresh
for John Henry in Swan Twp. The separator was hitched to the engine and as it
passed down a small hill near his home the hook in the tongue of the separator,
by which it was attached to the engine, gave way. Mazur was upon the engine and
the separator came crashing into him, pinning him between the table of the
separator and the guide wheel of the engine. He died in about 40 minutes. He was
a member of the Catholic Church at Ege. He was 38 years of age and leaves a wife
and four children. The threshing outfit is owned by Russell & Mazur and
seems to be an unfortunate one. A few weeks ago Russell, the other partner, had
a leg broken while throwing a belt from the separator. ~ 8-11-1898
