brother as he was caught between a tree and whirling timbers. Three of the
children were playing in the barn when the storm swept over Swan. The smallest
ran to the house as the wind came on. At the rear door the mother snatched up
the child and carried it safely into the home. Starting back to the barn, the
agonized mother saw the other children running toward her, hurled to the ground
by the violence of the wind. She saw the barn roof lifted off and flung upon the
children. Tearing away the wreckage, the mother found the little girl crushed to
death. The property damage near Avilla and in the east party of the county was
much greater than at Albion, although many trees were blown down, limbs broken
off and crops damaged to some extent by the wind. + 7-?-1922

health, had been out driving in the morning and was making calculations to
attend a public sale some miles from his home on Saturday. About 9:30 o’clock
he started to enter an outbuilding upon his premises and suddenly fell forward
at the entrance. His daughter heard the noise of the fall and hurried to him. He
was assisted to the house - insisting all the while that he was not injured
seriously. His face was somewhat bruised by the fall and blood was flowing from
his mouth and nostrils. He sat down upon a chair and was finally persuaded to
lie down upon a lounge. In a few moments he gasped slightly and expired. Death
was no doubt due to the rupture of a blood vessel. He was born at Marlboro, Vt.,
