Records of coffins sold between May 6, 1867 and May 6, 1886 were kept by W. A. Brown, a Ligonier cabinet manufacturer and undertaker who came from Maryland and settled in Ligonier in 1861. The records are now the property of Ulrey-Renner-Brazzell Funeral Home in Ligonier. Copies of the original records are located in the Indiana Room at the Noble County Library in Albion, as well as the Genealogy Center of the Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne, Indiana. A sample of the actual record may be found at the end of this listing. Excerpts from the documents are included here as written. In order to retain the flavor of the day, no attempts were made to correct misspelled words. Ordinary payment records and coffin details were not included in this transcription.
